But wait! I thought the 3% "raise" wasnt going to impact future retro. Otherwise we just gave scope away for free. Surely not this union/pilot group!

Hope I'm wrong, but they have a long history that informs what their SOP manual reads.

See I was going to be a dentist but I don’t think people want to go to Dr Payne.

I honestly don’t know but I just get the vibe that this is like the Japanese negotiating with us while planning to attack pearl and moving everything into position. If they honestly wanted it done it could be done (NOW), that’s why I’m very skeptical about all this, especially with it scheduled past the holidays. (Convenient)

I would love to be wrong.

We are negotiating 1 thing. Pay rates. If the company doesn’t respond with a reasonable offer at next weeks meeting then the MEC should declare a labor dispute before the December ramp up.

Yeah if they are not very close next week the union should say F it you are not interested we are out.

I’m (we) are not in the mood for games they need this to attract and retain. This is all on the company if they want to play games, let’s play.

We have plenty of time they don’t.

let’s be very clear, between this and the JCBA this is probably the only time we will ever be in the drivers seat. Let’s act like it.

I would be careful with the thinking that management "needs" a pay raise...

They need a pay raise for their current growth PLANS, but they have many times before been more than happy to defer deliveries, and slow growth in the past.

If they can't get the 7/1/1 they want, they might just as well prefer to slow growth vs pay pilots. Wouldn't surprise me.

Like I said, I will have to SEE them change their stripes to believe they are no longer a tiger.

Plus, as far as they’re concerned, they just spent 3.6B to solve their pilot staffing problem…

Still sub 1,000 flights/day with more pilots and I also haven’t seen a new A220 since July. I think you’re spot on with your analysis. I think they want to grow, but outside factors are prohibiting that right now.

They have intentionally deferred aircraft deliveries several times in the last 8-10 years. They have intentionally slowed growth several times. If the choice is pay pilots a lot or slow deliveries, it just wouldn't surprise me to see them slow deliveries, again.

I hope I'm wrong, I hope this time is different. But so far to me they are still the same tiger...
