It’s about six months currently from interview to class date. Keep in mind training slows way down in the summer though.

Let me fix that for you: training slows way down at JB though.

Seniority has been moving at a snail's pace the last few years.

EVERY new hire will go to the 190 with definite timeline to bid over to the airbus. The question applicants have to ask themselves is do they want to fly a 190 indefinitely. To each their own.

This.

Is it true the seat lock is down to 1 year?

What about flying the new CSeries/A220? JB has 60 on firm order and 60 more options. I am betting it becomes the favorite airplane in the fleet when it arrives... A friend at Delta is training on the A220 now and he loves it (prefers it to the Airbus he used to fly too).

Agree. For those that don't understand, the company is only required to do 1 system bid per year. They are intentionally making this system bid small, and with minimal A320 FO positions, so they can minimize how many FOs bail the E190 for the A320, to keep training costs low.

Then the company releases a supplemental bid that ONLY has E190 FO positions available, which is for all the new hires.

So new hires will all or nearly all be on the "industry leading" E190 pay (about 20% lower than any other major airline pilot after 1st year pay) and then will only have an A320 FO opportunity due to upgrade backfills, which will be going very senior!

Short version, hired E190, stuck on E190, probably for YEARS!

No significant number of A220s on property for the next 4 years!

Haven't heard but I believe that would be a contractual conversation.

This^^^^^

The other hurdle will be the pay. The 220 pays substantially more than the 190 and slightly less than the 320. Much like DAL MD-80 the 190 will be the junior fleet with few, if any, upgrades elsewhere. With the very slow delivery schedule of the 220 new hires are destined for the 190.
