I'm reaching out to the few people whose contact information I happened to get, but if I don't succeed in getting the letters or getting them in time for my interview, am I just SOL at Jet Blue? (This requirement doesn't seem to be an obstacle at other airlines, even legacies.)

Thanks in advance.

just ask anyone you have flown with. No one cares that you haven’t talked to them in years— they know the game and get it. Just ask… as long as you weren’t “that guy” you will be fine

no one will be offended.

Maverick: Yes, I think I've seen it somewhere as LORs from pilots you've flown with. Looking at the pre-interview info from the company, they specify LORs in which "verbiage must attest to your flying career".

Thank you for the advice, I think you're both right. This is basically what I've been doing, and I'll finish doing it.

Man, it's so uncomfortable imposing on people, but I agree, I think everyone in this world understands. I guess I'll salve my guilt by committing to pay it forward, if people ever ask me in the future.

We undershot our goal by about 250 this year(25%).

In the 12 years I’ve been here we have NEVER met the hiring goal.

There are currently like 800 more pilots on the list than in 2019, flying the same amount of flying as 2019. After the 4 320 lease returns and 6 190 lease returns, and the parking of 15-20 owned E190s this year and next, the active fleet size won’t really grow in 23. Utilization might go up a little bit. But their “we anticipate hiring 1,000 pilots next year” will likely just be enough to cover attrition. Especially given the size of the current applicant pool. They will probably lose 400 next year to attrition. So I’d guess they will hire around 500-600 or so to marginally grow the list.

Anyone have a good explanation for how/why JB has 800 more pilots for the same flying?

3rd fleet? SQ?

The pairings are brutal, so it can't be that they aren't efficiently (from a company perspective) using pilots. No more soft time as an example.

Can’t speak specifically for JB, but between high attrition and high sick call rates, a number of airlines are hurting for butts in seats:

if you got COVID - even if it’s your third case and just the sniffles, quarantine recommendations are still the same:

Influenza is almost as bad:

I wouldn’t want to be working scheduling currently.

Anyone happen to know active pilots 2019 vs now? I’d be curious how that looks, but still I doubt it would explain the 800 number.

Default Online App Status

looking of some info. I interviewed and then within 5 hours was sent a Phase 2 notification. Same day my online app status said "Congrats, you've been offered the position". A day later it says "we've moved on with other candidates" however I've received no other information about not moving on. Anyone else seen this before?

Is hiring/interviewing on a pause until the new year?
