Looks like 37 newhires will be getting the bus afterall. Will make for long long reserve, though, with equal pay scales, so 190 line holders crediting 80-85 hours would make more than bus guys making the 75 hour guarantee. For new dudes coming here who are reading this, unless you really want to be an airbus guy and get the regional stink off of you, you’d be best off doing the 190 the first year then switching to the bus at the 1 year mark. 190 will have a ton of newhires coming in with much shorter (if any) reserve time. Only risk is not being able to hold the bus at the 1 year mark, but as the 220 comes online I think enough guys will create vacancies in all 3 planes that you’d be able to switch. But QOL (and probably pay) on the 190 will be much higher than on the bus for your first year on property, I can almost guarantee it (no redeyes, way better relative seniority and way shorter reserve, etc).
If you’re using this place for a bus type rating, or if you live in NY and plan on bidding reserve anyway, maybe the bus makes sense. I do like flying the bus more than the 190, mostly due to lower workload and a more comfortable flight deck. But pay/QOL trump my comfort, and I switched to the bus when it made sense schedule and pay wise. Anyway, just my $.02. Inevitably, just like at every newhire class, when the bidsheets are filled out, everyone gets big plane envy or wants to feel like a real major airline pilot and not a regional pilot and puts the bus down. But with a 1 year seatlock for newhires, something to consider.

That’s a marketing slogan and the location of JB HQs, but I’m guessing you knew that. Guessing you also know JB is the largest carrier in BOS, with others trying to regain market share, hence his post, which was specifically in response to delta announcing 4 new routes out of BOS (well delta contracted underpaid regional pilots, not actually delta). Home turf?” Meh. Would you rather he just said “turf?” Are you just being pedantic?

Would it be safe to say that guys or gals getting hired today or the next few months first available upgrade will be on the 220? I've been on the bus for a long time and would like to fly the 190 before I upgrade to make the transition easier but if I upgrade on the 220 anyways it doesn't matter.
Why would you flying the 190 make the transition easier?
