With the exception of direct payment “reparations“ there’s not much more that can be done. I wonder what Martin Luther King would say about the opportunities available to the black community today compared to then. I wonder what he would say to the white enabler‘s and apologists that continue to divide us by insulting the black community. As seen in Georgia, saying that minorities can become President of the United States, but can’t figure out how to get an ID, find the number on the ID, electric bill, or rent payment… Is disgustingly racist and insulting.

I am all for United actively recruiting members of all communities, looking to attract those who want to be in this profession. Racism will only end when we stop identifying and segregating people by race. Pandering is not going to get us there.

The entire process of hiring pilots should be color blind and gender neutral. Anything else is administering and legitimizing some sort of bias.

Is that what you were trying to say?

Interesting that Mr. Kirby didn't try and implement this at American Airlines.

AA didn’t have Josh Earnest and a ‘Chief Diversity, Equity (their goal, not equality), and Inclusion Officer’ at the time. He’s most likely scared ****less of being called out as racist if he doesn’t listen to them.

Yes, you're wrong to say that as a white guy you get less opportunities than a woman or an OBAP member. WIA and OBAP do not discriminate with who they help. It's the favorite argument of those who don't know or care to learn. Like anything else, you'll get out of it what you put in.

To answer your other question, I'm in the know enough to tell you that it's greater than zero. So, your point is invalid.

As a white guy I most certainly had less opportunities. My grades had to be higher to get into college compared to a minority. I didn't qualify for a lot of assistance that was out there because of my skin color even though I was more disadvantaged than others that did.

It is your racist and misogynistic lens that thinks women and minorities are too incapable of getting the job themselves even though the airlines bend over backward to recruit them so OBAP and WIA are most certainly not needed.
Once again if the roles were reversed and it was WMIA White Men In Aviation getting preferred interviews and scholarships the outrage from the woke would be astronomical.

You have a very closed mind to think that because it is greater than zero that my point is invalid especially because you don't have the stats but then again what does statistics mean when you feel my point is invalid?

I dated a girl in high school who was half Incan. She had her choice of colleges even though she was an average student because the colleges were climbing on top of eachother to be able to say they had an Ican there.

I have some serious reservations about the corporate person concept as applied today.

OK, I get liability and executing legal agreements.

But when they charge a "corporation" with crimes, that's BS... corporations don't commit crimes, people do. If a crime was committed, charge the people responsible. Otherwise managers can skirt laws knowing the worst will happen is the corporation will get "convicted" and pay a fine. It's possible but exceptionally rare for a court to dissolve a corporation as a criminal penalty, but even that hurts the rank and file a lot more than the bosses (who either orchestrated, or should have prevented, the criminal act(s) ).
