One of the guidlines for sound ethical practices asks the question; "If news of your "practices" was made public, how popular would it be?"
It's funny how those who want to "believe" just go into denial mode and don't want to hear the TRUTH!

How many total are in the pool right now and any guesses on when it will be depleted? Sorry, I stopped paying attention to this thread for a while and it looks like I'd have to sort through a lot of off topic posts to find this info...

I believe they have called to about #80 of ~120, so not many left in the pool

For those in the pool UAL is scheduled to hire 40/month indefinitely beginning in February. DAL is scheduled to hire early next year. AA is calling back furloughs and USair has recently hired. FedEx is hiring.
Given all this information and reality of benefits/pay at Jetblue as compared to other carriers why are those of you in the pool still willing to accept a position?
Just curious.

I'm sure the guys without degrees and TPIC have little choice but to head for JB. There's no shortage of guys with degrees and TPIC. There are very large numbers of college educated RJ Captains out there. But, JB's educational requirements and minimums are lower for a reason.

I just don't get it.
Almost every jetblue pilot is here because at the time of their hiring there was no where else to go, they lacked the proper time to apply at a major or this was the only airline that would hire them. Times have changed. If you have the knowledge that other companies are better why would you still choose a lesser one. I understand those who have no PIC but Jetblue is still attracting applicants who meet all the qualifications to apply at a major.
Overall you will be paid and protected substantially less and work much more than your peers. What's the attraction. If you are currently at a regional upgrade and get the PIC time required by other airlines. Jetblue will not provide you this.
With 150 or less retirements in the next 10 years your career progression will define stagnant.
I'm certainly not criticizing someone's decision to apply at Jetblue but I do question the rationale.

Airbus time and overwater experience on your resume looks better than being just another RJ guy. And, UAL/DAL/FEX/UPS all operate Airbus.
Not a bad stepping stone.

How does Jetblue view single engine turbine time i.e. PC-12? More importantly the TPIC in the PC-12 operating under 135 and 91K?
Is it just glorified piper cub time like most places make it seem?
