Agreed however...welcome aboard folks, can't wait to meet you all. Recently finished my first year. Is it perfect? No. But nonetheless, it's a blast. Great pilot group.

Has anyone in the October 17th class received the conformation e-mail mentioned in the original e-mail offering the "conditional" employment based on the refresh background check? With 4 days until we show up...quit other jobs, it would be nice to hear something

In previous classes, I believe some people didn't get that email until they were in the sims or even later.

Reserve in JB is unlike any other airline reserve. If you bid right you'll be able to get a stretch of Long Calls, with min 14 hours call out, LCR may be for 3 or more days. Right now (and as any airline out there, things may change), we are properly staff, which means we have plenty of reserve coverage for a lot of Long Calls; especially in slow months like September, October, January, February, March - just think about it, five months in the year, you can average 18+ days at home and get paid the same. E190 - you'll be flying your @$$ off with 4-5 legs a day, just like express carrier, destinations will make you sick, always the same thing. Yes, you'll get a line faster, but at the same time you'll be use a lot when on reserve, and LCR in E190 is seldom. A320 reserve, my line average 15 days off, they drop additional 2PRL (pre release) days, that's 17 scheduled days off, with addition of Long Call reserve days, I stay home for 20+ days. Flying A320 is much better, more long legs, trans-cons, Caribbean, at worst you'll have to pull out Jepps 3 times, typically, you'll fly long 5-6 hours legs coast to coast, or turns to Caribbean, sometimes you get to stay in Caribbean for 24 hours at the beach, and then you'll appreciate you are on A320. Don't forget a nice tray table in front of you, and roomy flight deck, auto trim, and joystick, auto start sequence that you don't have to babysit :-)If you have a chance, bid A320, forget E190 (or E-180 degrees back to the gate for MX) A320 - you'll like the airplane and type of flying - Enjoy.

Destinations and long legs on the 320, great. But I want the days off I need, and money to support my family.
Pick what ever is best for your family and finances. The rest is luxury.

While I agree you are home often on A320 reserve (I fly about an average of 4 days a month), your line is constructed each month with 18 reserve days. So your award is either 12 or 13 days off each month. After adjustment windows close, you are (typically) awarded 2 Pre-release days (PRLs). So you end up with 14 or 15 days off depending on if it's a 30 or 31 day bid period.
Still a great deal, just not 17 scheduled days off. At least not for JFK.
