What's the correct answer?

Beats me. I tried to look it up but couldn't find anything that specifically answered the question. I am pretty sure I got it wrong so i am probably not the best one to ask.

The correct answer to the question that was posted is, don't go to PSA if they are asking such ridiculous questions and holding you to that standard.

I have a friend in CLT I can use his futon for Reserve, but the 2 hour drive only works if I can do trips.

For guys based in CLT holding a line is there a wide variety of schedules (O+B, 2-day, 3-day, 4-day)?

Thanks.
Call-out time is two hours for short call reserve in DAY and CLT and one hour in TYS. Long-call reserve won't be a problem for you.

Are you two hours away from CLT in non-rush hour traffic? If that's the case, I can understand the concern. If you are considering GoJet and PSA, I'd take PSA.

BTW, retired Army, ground pounder.

What a stupid question to put on that test. Especially if they're sending people home if they miss one too many.

Ok, I think I may have found the answer thanks to the answer options you provided...I pulled up the old trusty Jepp Instrument/Commercial textbook and here's what it says:

"Some receivers have the additional ability to isolate the corrupt satellite and continue reliable operation with the remaining satellites. This requires an additional satellite beyond what is required to identify a RAIM error, a total of six."

Based on the fact that they have been taking in 70 pilots a month with 100% of the gouge posted online and are in desperate need of more, I am pretty sure changing the test was most likely not their choice, as that change/decision may have come from the mothership.

You have error isolation and error detection. To have a good RAIM signal, you only need 5 satellites. If you want the receiver to remove an invalid or corrupted signal from the solution you need to have a 6th satellite to replace the corrupt one.

3 satellites will give you a 2D fix in space (triangulation)
4 satellites will give you a 3D fix in space
5 satellites is the minimum required for RAIM. If one satellite starts giving a signal error or integrity is in question, the receiver can only say that one signal is bad and will not enter APP mode or will remove all GPS navigational information from an HSI
6 satellites can replace a bad signal allowing you to continue an approach without losing signal integrity.

Man they are really changing things. My buddy missed 10 questions on his test and still got hired lol.
