Sadly, this is correct. I'm at my fourth airline, third as a pilot. Some things don't change. The names, however, are changed to protect the guilty.

Management is expecting miracles from the training dept. And because they are unable to train as fast as management wants the bottom line is being affected. So to offset the loss, management is coming to the pilots once again for concessions. But rather than ask, they are just canceling our Hilton/Marriott hotels and picking up sleep inns. Thus freeing up cash.

AAG has eleven regionals doing its flying now and is having a hard time piecing out that flying effectively. At envoy we are being given a flight file that is missing a lot of mid day flying. Consequently, our schedules are the worst they ever have been in my 20+ years here. We basically fly from overnight to overnight. It makes for a 12 day off schedule average with minimum block hours.
This is just one of the many downsides of having so darn many regionals doing flying for one major carrier. Customers are starting to notice the difference in service.

Have you seen the reserve grid for Tys? 25-35 reserve available. Looks like they are catching up a little or maybe the high credit lines they produced for April offset that. I don't understand why they just make high block/credit lines to maximize staffing levels rather than the 10 hour 4 days I see in open time at all bases.

How many of those reserves have actually started/finished IOE and are really truly available?

Good point the grid may change once first come first served opens up to indicate a lower amount. There are roughly 100 Tys FO's. 50 rd 1 lines and a few rd 2. Not sure where on the list is the last eligible fo.

Just for reference, there are 79 reserve lines in DAY next month, the most senior person in our class is #19, and they haven't even really started IOE for the class in front of us yet...

Any chance in using the "F" word and telling them you got a crap night sleep in this sh!t hole Sleep Inn because some hooker was turning tricks in the room next to you, therefore you can't fly today? If everyone did that maybe they wouldn't screw around with the hotels.
