I was referring strictly to professionalism and the responsibility each and every one of us has, mainline and regionals alike. You can and should act like a professional even if you are a bottom feeder and don't get paid a lot.
Actually I'm not here to justify anything. APC is what it is. Only people I have to justify myself too are my fellow Piedmont pilots. We are much better off and happier then last year at this time.

I challenge anyone to point out another Regional with better 1st Year Pay than Piedmont.. (Endeavor takes the cake for Bonus)

And, on the 12/4 caps, those are jet rates (which will require seniority to bid into) and they're hardly a B-scale (except for the 1st year), but more like a compressed pay scale where a 2nd Year pilot will get paid the same a dash pilot would make on year 4, 3 Year jet pay equals 8th year dash pay, etc..

Now, Benefits.. I only pay for 18% of the Health insurance cost, with Dental, Vision and Rx too. Sure, it'll go up to 35% over the next 5-6 years, but I'll be gone by then and it'll still be much better than found elsewhere in the regionals.

What does Piedmont pay during training? (I really am curious...I have no idea)

75 Hours monthly guarantee (28.37), plus 1/2 per diem 24/7 during training ($20.4 daily).

In summary, $2.5k per month for Ground & Sim.

Per Diem goes to full rate during SOE, 3K Bonus payment after SOE completion. Full hotel coverage, even in base during SOE.

The other 2K after 6 months, if I recall correctly.

Benefits kick in at 60 days.

Not bad at all. PSA pays a little more in per diem, but less in hourly pay. PDT does pay more, but the money just isn't worth it to me.

I just really did not like any of the Piedmont bases and the bases are a difficult commute. That is why I decided not to go there. I also do not really believe yet that the 145's will ever actually show up, and I have flown enough turboprops. Other than that, it isn't a bad company.

The outstation bases are rough on commuters, I'll give you that. The system is 'designed' for lower cost of living.

Even on first year pay, I can't bring myself to live in a town where the finest bottle of wine has a plastic screw cap. I need somewhere a little bigger and nicer.

Hey CLT Guy, do you know what the requirements are to become a sim instructor later down the line with PSA? I know they'll pay 1st year Captain pay - and can you be a sim instructor (on your days off) AND fly the line at the same time? Stupid question probably, but....heh.

If you are strictly looking for first year pay, consider being a ground instructor. They pay is pretty good, they will positive space travel you, and you get per diem 24/7. Just talk to the training department during initial training and tell them that you are interested. If you do well, and after you get a little experience on the line, you can come back and work teaching IPT's.

Flying in between teaching is hard to do. Duty time becomes a major issue.
