Yea, that's what I was afraid of.

I know they say that number is creeping down, but that's still a little unsettling.

Someone has brought this up before, but do they have restrictions on other type of work you can do on the side while awaiting training? Specifically flying part 91 type stuff or working side gigs.

Someone said they nixed the BNA MTX base as well, but in Aero Crew News, they said BNA and CVG would be MTX bases... so im not sure.

There seems to be several PSA folks who live in Middle Tennessee and commute to TYS. I would assume most are MTSU alum.

Ive figured my drive right at 2:45 as well. Im only 10 min from BNA, but I think I am subscribing to your theory about not having to worry about getting a spot on a flight.
I would say the average is 5 times a month, some months only 4 if the blend works in my favor. I live 25 minutes east of Nashville, so I never hit traffic, regardless of what time I leave. And with TYS being so far south of Knoxville, I never hit traffic there either, even at rush hour.

I also did the travel budget and I end up spending about $140 a month on gas, which is less that I would have to pay in hotels I would have to get when I have early shows or can't make flights.

As far as wear on the car, yeah, oil changes happen quicker. I have been in the market for new car for quite some time so I am happy with all the wear I am putting on this one. Makes my new car a little closer.

Long time lurker... thanks to all of you providing informational posts; for the remainder a special thank you for the entertainment.

Thankfully, the current wait (at least for the 200) isn't anywhere near 5 months... my wait times were:

2 months between ground and oral
1 week between oral and sims
3 weeks between sims and differences sims (currently waiting)

Rumor has me expecting little to no wait for IOE.

The gap is definitely closing since the July guys are right on our heals. I would be surprised if todays new hire sat for much more than a month. It isn't exactly in the company's best interest for us to be sitting at home and not contributing.

So i just flew with a captain today and one of his friends interviewed in july and they gave him a december class date.

Now, they have been improving the amount of time it takes to get through training because they've been constantly getting more check airmen and they've lowered the amount of people being hired (i.e. last class i heard about had only 7 pilots) so my assumption is they will push people through quicker than it was this last year.

As far as doing something in-between, I don't know... what they did offer us, was to be an IPT instructor while waiting to go to sim since it took so long. That pays better as well.

Is there any difference in the oral if you already hold an ATP?

No difference in the oral. It isn't anything to freak out about though, you are given everything you need. Take care of your side and the oral is just another test to knock out of the park.

for both initial and upgrade i felt like i was over prepared...but i also studied my ass off. Easy or not, there is no downside to to being over prepared. I think we all know that its all about who the examiner is too.

Everyone is qualified on the 200, 700, and 900, so you could fly all three.

I can't speak for DAY, but in TYS it seems 75% of the flying is on the 200.
