Thanks for the honest replies....
Well, honestly I'm a 57 YOA ATP rated pilot with over 3300 hours total time. My last flying position was flying CE-501 in Florida for a large corporation but I left in 1994 because my two sons were young and as a single parent I had to make a decision to leave the industry in order to raise my boys. My sons are now grown up and self sufficient and due to the current pilot hiring/shortage I made the decision to get back to a pilot position. At my age I obviously am not looking to flow to a major airline and am willing to stay with a regional for the next 8 years. I am retired from California State Service and have a decent retirement and medical benefits so not really concerned with that part of it. Why PSA? Honestly they were the first airline to offer me an interview and it seems from reading all these posts that any regional has pros and cons and I think it's a matter of personal preference whether someone is willing to accept the conditions or not. I just want to fly again.

Why not Skywest. They are west coast and run a reliable operation from what I hear. If you were to come hear then charlotte would be the place to move to or on the coast which is nice.

1) every reginal you apply to will hire you!
2) pick a regional that reserve is short
3) pick a reginal with bases you can afford and don't mind living at.
Getting off reserve and living in an affordable base increases quality of life immensely!
Welcome back to the industry!

The problem is that PSA just can't hire many new pilots. Our last three classes had 4, 16, and 4. The average for the year has been about 8 new hires per class.
Attrition is really starting to pick up at PSA. We just had several pilots go to Spirit, and I know of quite a few that have gotten calls from JetBlue in this newest window. I would expect attrition to pick up to 20-30 a month in the coming months.
PSA isn't the worst airline out there. All regionals are what you make of them. The most important thing to look for is a company that won't be going out of business in the next 18 months, and one that will give you the greatest quality of life. Pick a regional where you want to live. Reserve sucks everywhere, but commuting to reserve is terrible.
If PSA pilots win their critical pay arbitration, we will be some of the highest paid pilots in the regionals. That should help with attracting new hires again.

Upgrade times change very quickly. PSA had really fast upgrade times for awhile, and right now, they have slowed down. We are supposed to be getting a bunch more CRJ700's, which the pilots on the property do not really want, but if we do get them, then upgrade time will drop again (provided that PSA can hire).

They are their airplanes. Even though they are hunks of junk, I do not want to take airplanes from another ALPA carrier.
