You're going to be charged for your initial uniform allotment (which includes the option of a suitcase and flight bag) and will pay that back over payroll deduction for your first 9 months. I believe all those items have to be from the company's vendor, so if you'd like a different brand of shirt (a lot of guys like A Cut Above) you pay for that on your own. I don't know if the company's vendor carries LuggageWorks bags, so you may be on your own for that as well.
On your first anniversary, and every anniversary thereafter you accrue $400 into your uniform bank which can be used at the company's vendor automatically (currently the shipping charges there are outrageous, but a CP has said they're trying to fix that), or for shirts, suitcases, and flight bags from an outside vendor. You pay the outside vendor out of pocket and submit receipts for reimbursement.

I have heard some senior guys who have a a lot of uniform $$ saved in their account buying a new luggageworks bag (getting reimbursed for it through the company) then selling it to junior guys at a reduced price. You just have to ask around.

TwinHills is our uniform vendor. There bags are the ones the flight attendants are required to buy and are absolutely crap. Do yourself a favor and get either luggage works or strongbag. They are the only ones that will hold up to this lifestyle.

The sign on bonus (comes with a two year commitment) is $15,000. If you hold a CL-65 type rating you get an additional $5,000 sign on bonus. (CRJ type)
The second and third year you get $2,500 per quarter in bonuses. If you upgrade to captain, that bonus stops and you would get whatever retention bonuses are in place for captains (if any at that time)
So yes, 2nd year pay "could" be lower than first year pay as there are only $10,000 in bonuses vs the $15,000 for the first year. However, by the second year, you will be holding some kind of line and with SAP, you could easily be flying more than the 75 hours and making more money. Most will upgrade during or prior to their third year so third year pay will likely be higher than second year pay. If you don't upgrade and choose to not fly more, your third year pay will match the second year pay.
This salary is guaranteed base and does not include the hotel reimbursement allowance, per diem, etc.

It can be as little as 2 weeks depending on if they have openings for the first class. 3-4 weeks is probably a little more normal, but can be longer if desired. Some people are choosing to bypass 100-200 seniority numbers just to start after the holidays. I hear the first class in January will be huge.

Actually 2nd year and beyond is currently $39.89, which will change when deliveries start happening again, and also on April 1 when the usual annual raise goes into effect.

Correct.
You will make more your second year, unless you want to drop down and fly as little as possible.
Unless something drastic happens, if you are hired today, you will upgrade in your 2nd or 3rd year, if you want to.

Am I correct in understanding that the signing bonus at the wholly owned AA carriers is tied to a two-year commitment? Isn't that a training contract or sorts considering you have to pay it back(perhaps pro-rated) if you leave before 2 years are up?

If you take the $15,000 (or $20,000 bonus with a CRJ type rating), and leave before 2 years, then you have to pay some of the money back. I believe it is prorated after your first year.
If they didn't do this, people would go to PSA for a month or two, collect the $20,000, and split. That just makes sense.
