This year? Not so much, and no one is disputing that.

However, from the beginning of the year through the Oct 10th class we averaged 7.7 in a new hire class. Since then that has jumped to over 26.

So trying to take 2016s number and projecting them through 2017 is pretty useless. When a company takes the steps of raising starting FO pay by nearly 250% of the course of the year, things change.

And BTW, that guy's numbers for PSA hiring were WAY off.

How many airplanes did we take delivery of in 2016? I didn't keep track of when they were delivered.

I know the Dec 10, 2015 seniority list had 1173 pilots on it, and we only increased about 35 this year. The difference is that we went from being staffed correctly to being understaffed for the number of airplanes that we have.

The hiring right now is correcting that, and are hiring for continued growth moving forward.

Next month's seniority list should have the largest number of pilots in PSA's history (probably ~1230, depending on attrition this month).

So we added about 18 airplanes, and about 18 pilots. Funny.

Something like that. We went from 10.41 ACT Pilots per AC at the beginning of the year, to 8.77 for December.

That equals lots of CCP for me this month.

LOL. So first you have the staffing for more planes and now you're hiring just to get BACK to normal staffing. Which is it?

Pay attention.

Right now, we don't have the staffing. The company has spent a large part of last year pounding its head against a rock saying that they didn't have to change anything to improve hiring, and we've seen what that got them.

Given recent compensation announcements, class sizes, and increased upgrade classes, the company is anticipating more 700s arriving the early part of next year.

Easy enough that I could explain it to my 8 year old nephew. If you can't get it, or just want to play court jester on the internet, that's not my problem. The hiring will continue (and perhaps pay continue to rise) despite whatever you think about it.

He sure talks a lot for being a long time listener doesn't he. How's about listening to people who actually work for the company when getting your facts.
