The money is there but we have a union that represents us and them. Huge conflict of interest.
ALPA represents all the WOs and the APA represents mainline pilots. The conflict arises in that APA used to represent a portion of the Eagle pilots (Nashville Eagle), then punted when all the Eagle carriers were certified as a single carrier. This was mid- to late 1990s. ALPA won that certification election.

Now, APA might be a little more willing to represent the WOs if doing so meant getting all the flying back to the mainline pilot group. ALPA won't let go because they want the AA pilots back in ALPA and see their presence at the WOs, especially Envoy, as a means to that end.

What does this mean? Is some contract airline pining to go to APA? What are you saying here? What won't alpa let go of?

We could have been stapled to the bottom of AA. But ALPA wouldn't want that. They would lose all their business to APA.
ALPAs priorities are with themselves first.

I completely agree that there's conflict. However, they can't force us to vote.

So what are the chances of APA bringing the WOs into their union?

It actually works better for ALPA to maintain poor conditions at the WOs. Poor terms and conditions and a low Flow of 5+ means that more pilots will leave PSA for other ALPA carriers instead of waiting around to flow to a non ALPA carrier. Whenever a PSA pilot flows, ALPA loses money. Their is no incentive for ALPA to help any WO with a flow.

PSA's Chicago flying starts in May (if not earlier).

There are flights scheduled from DAY to ORD operated by PSA in the reservation system.

It sounds like you are saying ALPA would rather keep you at the contract carrier in order to ensure their survival instead of furthering pilots interests by letting you go to American Airlines. Is that what you are saying? If so, can you supply proof somehow? If this has truth to it its a rallying call to dump alpa. This can't be correct.

ALPA has a presence on the AAG property via representation of all the WO pilot groups. By extension, this presence exposes ALPA to the AA pilot group. Ever since the AA pilot group left ALPA in the late 1950s/early 1960s, ALPA has actively sought the return to ALPA of the AA pilot group. This is nothing new.

Ok but nobody is saying APA would like to have the wholly owned carriers as part of their union are they?

It appears it's only for the month of May.
