Thanks. That what I was trying to understand. I was trying to understand if it was designed around actually being BOOKED on that flight or watching the loads and booking on the first flight but using the loads on the second flight as your "backup". Essentially saying, I didnt take the first because the second was wide open.
(it's a confusing question and even harder to explain when trying to type it out).
Thanks for the answers!

Think I get what you're asking. You don't ont have to be booked, but you have to show proof in the form of boarding passes for each flight you tried to get on, that way they see physical proof that you were at the airport and made an attempt. Just listing yourself, or what I believe you mean by "booking" yourself, on a flight is not enough. Another thing that's been done is get to the airport, get the boarding pass that you receive prior to the one with a seat assignment, then go back home. So now even if the flight was wide open you still have that piece of paper they wanna see. However I strongly advise against this as you're definitely playing with fire. All they'd have to do is look at the flight load to see it had open seats. Number one rule in this industry: don't lie.
I gotcha. I am sure they will explain more during training but I wasnt clear on how the "booking" vs "listing" on the flights worked.
Thanks for the explanation!

They still expect you to show up to join your trip as soon as you can, but you will not be held liable for it.

So this is where the hot reserve comes in? So if a person doesnt make their two legs to get to their trip, the hot reserve gets burned.
In that case, if you are the hot reserve in DCA and you have to pick up the leg of the guy that missed his commutes and you fly a DCA-PHL leg, what do they do with you then? Does the hot reserve DH back to his base or do they flow him in elsewhere?

Thank you for clarification... I guess since I am approx halfway to both CVG and TYS, and prefer TYS, but if time is much faster to R1 at CVG, I guess that is no brainer. Then would have a plan to get back to TYS at some point
