I would call the training departement or flight standards at Comair. If they do not know the answer, they can get you in touch with on of the instructors.

FlightSafety, CAE, etc. are Pt. 142 flight training centers. I guess I don't understand the question?! Yes, you can get your ATP through a Pt. 142 center.

It won't get rid of the senior pilots anyway. A lot of the guys on the 70 are in CVG strictly because the 70 pays more. Many of these guys commute from FL and will go to JFK if the 70 ever goes. It is easier to get to JFK from FL than to get to CVG.

(a) Except as provided in paragraphs (b), (c), and (d) of this section, a person who is applying for an airline transport pilot certificate with an airplane category and class rating must have at least 1,500 hours of total time as a pilot that includes at least:
(1) 500 hours of cross-country flight time.
(2) 100 hours of night flight time.
(3) 75 hours of instrument flight time, in actual or simulated instrument conditions, subject to the following:
(i) Except as provided in paragraph (a)(3)(ii) of this section, an applicant may not receive credit for more than a total of 25 hours of simulated instrument time in a flight simulator or flight training device.
(ii) A maximum of 50 hours of training in a flight simulator or flight training device may be credited toward the instrument flight time requirements of paragraph (a)(3) of this section if the training was accomplished in a course conducted by a training center certificated under part 142 of this chapter.
(iii) Training in a flight simulator or flight training device must be accomplished in a flight simulator or flight training device, representing an airplane.
(4) 250 hours of flight time in an airplane as a pilot in command, or as second in command performing the duties of pilot in command while under the supervision of a pilot in command, or any combination thereof, which includes at least --
(i) 100 hours of cross-country flight time; and
(ii) 25 hours of night flight time.
(5) Not more than 100 hours of the total aeronautical experience requirements of paragraph (a) of this section may be obtained in a flight simulator or flight training device that represents an airplane, provided the aeronautical experience was obtained in an approved course conducted by a training center certificated under part 142 of this chapter.

I am just trying to figure out how this reads. My understanding of it is that you can count up to 100 hours toward the 1500 if it was done under part 142.

Do I have this right?

That is how I interpret this as well. I actually never looked into this in that much detail, but if the above is true, you could probably use up to 100 hrs. of Sim time you got at Comair towards your 1500 TT, as the Sims @ FlightSafety are certificated under Pt. 142. If you really need the time, your best bet is to get a copy of your training records and see if they kept track of the Simulator time. Also, don't be afraid to call your local FSDO to verify stuff like this, I had to jump through lots of hoops trying to get info on how to use an expiered written while on furlough and all the junk.

Close the base, OH all in JFK/LGA and Mesaba and Compass pick up the little bit left in CVG. Done

I didn't have to do anything for the written. There is some confusion I think and how people interpret the FARs on the "I can use an expired written to get my ATP as long as I'm employed with a 121/135 company". While I was on furlough I wanted to get my ATP via. Pt. 61, but wasn't sure if I can use it. Some said No, some said Yes including my DPE. I called the FSDO and OKC to get verification, which took about a week, but they all assured me that I was good to go. The key is to get a DPE that knows what he is doing. IACRA will not accept your expired written and will reject it. When I got my ATP we did a paper 8710 and included a copy of my furlough letter.

You have to do all the things Driver advised you to do. Call the FSDO in your local area; each FSDO is a little different. Make sure to coordinate everything with the examiner doing your check ride.
