From what I've heard, be GLAD they are turning 90% of the candidates away. Multiple failed checkrides, failed 121 training, DUIs or other major red flags.

This is just speculation about RAH, but at Eagle/Envoy, it is similar. A large portion are being turned away and the pilots are crying foul. When you hear from the recruiters though about the caliber of people left, again, I am glad we are turning them away. A warm body filling a class looks good on paper but when they cannot hack it in a 121 environment all they have done is wasted time and resources (of which I don't care about, waste away) and not created the end goal- a line pilot.

Take a wild guess where these 90% go?

Of course this is all untrue. Ask Brian why the minimum pilot hours to be hired in the past was 1500 hours. Those very same pilots flying there today were busy flying circles in the air, something he doesnt support today.

Sometimes my conscience tells me I owe it to people getting into the industry to stand outside of RAH headquarters in IND with a huge sign saying "please, before you hate everyone and everything, do not work here."

No its not that bad at RAH. The most disgruntled and most vocal employees, as it turns out, are the 6-7 year FOs that were "Promised" quick upgrades. They are now upgrading. Of course there are still those turning down upgrades because a Q400 or a 145 is below them. Even though a Q upgrade is turning into a 175 upgrade in another year and a half. So they still b**** even though they now have turned down an upgrade that they thought they were entitled to years ago, but it's not on an EJet, awwww. Look at some Endeavor FOs...8 years and never been off of reserve!! RAH is far from the worst place to be.

That is the long standing belief. And there are arguments against that. RAH turned down a substantial pay raise for FOs granted it was minimal for most CAs and new "better" work rules to remain on the current book. I still don't know of a place where you are never required to answer a call from the company...ever, as weird as that is. The most frustrating thing about RAH is they are so close to being a great place to work. Maybe that will happen with a new contract in ~10 years and get morale back where it was 6 or so years ago.

Even on reserve, you have no phone liability period? Is that because they text you, or require you to check a computer at certain times?

Baxter, how can you possibly say the proposed new work rules were better? Across the board on reserve it was a weakening of contractual language. Allowing them to keep us on the road even longer than they do now with no tightening of the rather loose language already governing us. I've been on reserve here many many years and know what I'm talking about. You clearly don't. As for line holders, yeah I read that section as well. I didn't see many of the improvements in the proposed contract you said were better. Every cost is going up in life. So should labor costs as they share more of their ever increasing wealth with us. Republic isn't significantly worse than any of the others but it's most definitely no better. In the end, they're all rather $hitty in the right seat especially if you have any experience. And in the left seat they are a decent job. Better than what any of my friends are doing.
