Again can't speak for Republic or Chautauqua. But at Shuttle you will be ATP typed without SIC restriction as a new hire.

Haha, I know. It makes no sense. But "word on the street" is that Shuttle and Republic will never merge because of the contract that S5 has with Delta. Apparently, don't quote me, the deal that S5 has with Delta says that we cannot fly anything greater than 70 seats with another airline. On S5 we do all 70 seats except for Delta we do up to 76 .This is why Republic got the AMR flying (175's greater than 70 seats) and not Shuttle.

That would make sense. However isn't the word on the street that S5 and YX manuals are being revised to be exactly the same in order to facilitate a merger and save some money?

I just think they didn't want Shuttle to do the flying cause then we would have AA, DL, and UA benefits while YX would only have US and UA so someone was butthurt by that and pulled the plug on S5 despite having to open yet another base. Lol.

Haha, i'm sure when they think about contracts they think about flight benefits! But before this announcement I did hear that they were trying to make the S5-RP transition "seamless" or not a big deal. So Pilots wouldn't have to go through 8 weeks of training on the same aircraft, just stupid indoc. I'm sure it wont be available for FO's. But the thought is there... And why wouldn't it?

The best thing for the company and the pilots would be to have 1 certificate with the 170/175. Imagine how much bigger Indy and CMH could be!

At least it would allow for more choices of where to be based for a few years until they close everything but IND and CMH.

Republic and Shuttle will not merge. Just did my PC with an ATP checkride and type on the ERJ 170 and ERJ 190... one of the managers was there and he told me the reason this "merger" might not happen is because of no competing clauses... and the reason why Shuttle did not get the flying...

And yes you get an ATP with no restrictions other than circling approaches in VMC only... apparently there is no time on the SIM to perform such maneuver...lol

Did they mention anything about CHQ merging with Shuttle?

So, if you have a commercial you get a pic type but If you have an ATP they give you an SIC type? Thought those were going away.
