Wow. Check the OP. From the language used, there's a fairly good chance that he or she is probably new to aviation and isn't all-knowing like you of said "regs".

What would you say the best thing is working for Republic, and the worst thing???
Is there a way to bid all your days off together or will you have to take the hit at first and have them spread out???Any advice on bidding. Trying to learn how to work the system.

I don't understand why people have to be such D-bags on a forum over a simple question. Not all of us are fully up to speed on things, but that why we're asking, so we can learn. Not asking to be coddled, just treated with respect is all.

Different people will tell you different things for best/worst. Some of the negatives I've seen are leftover angst from pre-contract days (from both pilots and management), a few coordinating departments that operate in a pretty disorganized way, and the uncertainty of the bankruptcy.
Bidding: You cannot bid all your days together, due to the 1 day off in 7 regulatory requirement. Within the restrictions this puts on your bidding, however, you can certainly try to get as many days off together as possible. If you don't mind reserve, you will get your choice of days off much faster as a reserve than a line holder.

Best: Living in base to fly airplanes for a decent wage with good people. The planes are very well maintained, are tons of fun to fly-with or without autopilot on-and most crews are great. The new contract drastically improved things for me regarding compensation.
Worst: Early shows and late finishes, followed by another early show for the next trip a couple of days later. It doesn't happen all the time, but often enough to be quite draining.
Some of the senior captains are great and mostly content with their place in the industry, but others are bitter that they're still at Republic. Try to avoid their negativity, but it can be tough when you're trapped in a closet with someone for twenty hours.

I think Envoy's schedules still suck, and they don't have the SAP.

Wow. If they know enough about 121 flying and commercial flying in general that they knew about "type ratings" one could logically assume that they've done some reading of the regs and reading the next paragraph in the book isn't that far fetched.
But I understand the cultural differences amongst the generations. Asking/texting etc vs researching seems to be more and more common place. I've been the recipient of text msgs asking the answer to questions not knowing that the person sending the text was in the middle of a (type rating) oral!!
Also, you didn't look at the sarcasm emojis. Obviously your sarcasm detector has been mel'd! My apologies, I didn't review the mel stickers before posting!

The answer to the question is, yes, Republic's training results in a type rating for the E-170. No type rating is required prior to training.
