Quote: Perhaps they are giving more points more leniantly, but I believe they are just reaching a higher quality portion of the seniority list. I've long predicted that the pass rate would go up as they reached the main portion of the list away from the lifers, and it has.
Getting to the fat part of the bell curve could be part of it. As could word on the street that you really do need to prepare. Someone told me recently that the first few months of SSP's were told its a joke and a handshake with no need to prepare. I don't belive that at all, although I do think for whatever reason some guys just suited up and went for it with little prep.

Management just grabbed that hornet's nest with both hands, shook it as hard as they could and power walked away in slow motion. I don't think they realized what they started over there. It may take a little while to fully manifest, but when the golden children start showing up in force, that is not going to be a happy work environment.

It is funny that their MEC is upset that someone went around them to do something like this, when they just did the same thing to us with the SSP, which was about way more than interviews, in the first place.

Quote: Delta is liable for 9E, how would that look if a guy failed the psych eval, then had an incident at Endeavor.
Zero liability. That is, unless they stampped in large red block letters on their app "UNSAFE TO FLY DUE TO MASSIVE PSYCHOLOGICAL ISSUES" and then kept that in their file for future subpoena by the ambulance chasers.

I doubt they are that stupid or sloppy though.

"Applicant was not offered a position at this time". That's it. Or they could go nuts and say "applicant did not fit the culture of our company". Either way, there would be absolutely nothing to sink any teeth into otherwise every single interview by a parent company would have to be be an automatic hire and we know that's not the case and never has been.

Yeah, I hear you...there are no guarentees with anything, I understand that...not sure that the airline path is for me anyway...I definitely do not want to sit reserve and commute and sit in hotels, so I'm just looking at all my options and seeing what works best for me and the fam.
Thanks

Quote: I believe the SSP is identical as far as questions are concerned, but they do a detailed work history review in addition but drop the MMPI/shrink face to face on day 2.
There are different questions based on your experience level. For instance, they ask a current 121 captain questions like, "You're in a third world country, and a passenger tells you she believes a child trafficker is on board, what do you do?". An EtD panel question for someone out of a flight school would be more general, like, "What do you do if you're a salesperson, and run out of a product that your customer wants?". A military pilot would get questions like, "What is your favorite color?"

Hey, what gives!? I didn't get "What is your favorite color?" until Day 2 in the Psych Interview. And even then she ended up making me convince myself it actually wasn't my favorite color, after all.

ATL is a good place to be isn't it? If you really wanted to depress the man, you shoulda said NYC/DTW.

Be prepared for the worse, embrace what you can.

First, actually be hired by Delta. That's one in a thousand.

Second, be open to flying anything, anywhere. If you're not, you'll be miserable.

Third, IMHO, it sounds like you are waffling on the airlines. If you aren't prepared for commutes and reserve, you're looking at the wrong career.

Don't mean to be harsh but helpful. DAL might not be right for you if you're not willing to go all in.

You are absolutely right!....Well...50/50.... I am an "ALL IN" kind of person, so that's why I am trying to really get this right...well at least get it right for what I want! Anyway, its not wrong to try and NOT have a crappy commute, or to seek the most job satisfaction for you and your family. Blind devotion to a job/company works for some, but if you aren't trying to better your circumstances, you might as well be a robot, IMHO. I expect it to be tough wrt commutes and reserve, what I'm trying to figure out is how to make that time the shortest possible!

Get in as soon as you can. Bid the most junior plane you can in a base you want. Stay there and climb the ladder fast. Once you've climbed it, keep staying there and enjoy the view. Don't throw a Captain bid in, particularly at a less desireable base, unless you want to start your QOL gains over for a raise thats going to be half lost to taxes anyway.
