Quote: I know that the union has said no to PBS, but I wonder what the majority of our pilots would need in pay to accept PBS? Everything is sale for a price! But let's not. I really really enjoy our vacation policy.
Trowser and Aero 1900 - is it just a coincidence that you two post very similar ideas / concepts right after each other ? - I have noticed it more than once. Just my forensic analysis.

Unless you guys are twins I'm guessing you are the same person - Am I right?

Just coincidence. I don't know Aero from Adam.

My PBS comment is not an "idea/concept". It's pretty much common sense.
You sit down to negotiate in front of an arbitrator demanding industry standard pay be prepared to here the same in return from across the table on other issues.
I didn't give an opinion on PBS either way. I do know DAL, UAL, AA, B6, and others seem to have figured out a way to make it work.

Anyone willing to give up line-bidding for a fee should ask the flight attendants how well PBS works for them, particularly the senior ones. Vacation is one of the better deals we have, particularly when you don't come into work.

There will be another recession, terrorist attack, oil crisis etc. and management can easily claw back whatever increased pay rates we receive in the next contract. Once we give away line bidding it will be gone forever. Southwest just kept their line bidding/vacation touching and will be the highest paid narrow body pilots in the industry. I don't think it's an unreasonable ask by our NC to keep the status qou in regard to scheduling.

That's exactly right.

I'll take SWA's new TA. For those thinking that's unrealistic for us to shoot for then you have already lost the fight.

+1000

I hope our NC adjusts their ask appropriately since "current economic conditions" have changed

Quote: Are you referring to the new Assistant Chief Pilot? If so, do you know him personally? Have you had any dealings with him? I ask because I believe, if you had, your post would have a differnet tone. I would be very surprised if he's lirking or posting on this website. He has waaayyy too many other things to keep him busy outside of his managment duties to be wasting time here. Hell, before he ever became and ACP, he worked his PE stuff from his hotel room all the time. I happen to know him; not well, mind you, but I do know him. And I know him to be both a gentleman ith humility and, until he proves himself differently (which I highly doubt he will), a stand-up guy. Just because he chose to take a job in managment does not make him a bad person....maybe he's trying to make things better for all of us....maybe he figured that would be the best way to ride out what would have otherwise been commuting to fukking reserve....maybe he's trying to better his application for Delta (God help him) or United.....maybe, maybe, maybe......

Trust me, I'm certainly no managment troll or wanna-be, but one thing I am is a solid judge of character, and, in my eyes, he has an outstanding one.

I don't post on this board much, but I do call bullsh!t when I see it; and, if your post refers to him, it's bullsh!t. If it doesn't, then carry on and I apologize.
With all due respect, I will disagree. As part of the ACP interview one of the questions is how your interpretation of the contract will change if you get the position. You can't get that job without selling your soul. That isn't melodrama, that is a fact. He has already shown that to be the case with his responses to some recent grievances. Fly and grieve. He didn't want to sit reserve in ORD and commute, so he sold out. Just like Aaron who doesn't have a medical and wants to keep getting paid and JP who has a Napoleon complex that would make Napoleon blush. Fair was our last great CP, Craig did a good job, but other than that, I haven't been impressed.
In the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter. Stay unified, back up the NC save your money. This management group are the dregs of humanity. They don't give a **** about you, and wouldn't **** on your burning children if it meant a couple extra bucks in their pockets. Don't get caught up in the BS, do your job, NO MORE, no less, and let the process work for us. WN just inked a monster AIP, Delta and Hawaiian will hopefully be soon to follow. Alaska will have a JBCA, UAL will snap up to Delta, the pattern is in our favor, but Franke etal won't give us a dime without the fight of a lifetime. So I will say it again, SAVE YOUR MONEY, get a strike fund started and let the process work!

Have one interaction with him and I will promise you'll feel differently. The guy is a douche. Deny any possible quarrel now and encourage a grievance....he's a mgmt dream. Bobbing for apples at the state fair and we came up with an ASS CP.

I was told for my interview it was a 2 year upgrade. Sounds a little too good to be true. Starting pay is pretty low, hopefully a new TA comes soon. Thanks
