Quote: Exactly what I said….Runway 32 is 5000 feet long, all of it is available for legal landing distance calculation. Therefore as long as the plane is capable, as in aerodata minimum runway length is less than 5000 feet, you should be able to land and stop in xxx configuration with 15% buffer added on the actual runway surface. It is short by airliner standard but the 190 is completely capable in most cases, and apparently now the 220 is also, to legally use that landing distance.

Theres another piece to it however. If you fk it up, the end of runway 32 seamlessly goes into a parking pad of stressed concrete that will support an airplane, hence being a parking pad. You have an insurance policy of about 600 feet of extra pavement after the end of the runway if you over run it. Tower only opens the runway when there is no aircraft parked there. You don’t want to count on it obviously but it’s there.

look at a google maps image of the runway and you’ll see what I mean.
Can you reach out to the POI and ask him how he feels about what you just said and report back, Like how like a "parking pad" at the end of the runway is an insurance policy. 32 also has yellow chevrons before the threshold of runway 32... Why not just land way back there for insurance reasons... or maybe we can use the green painted pavement at the end of runway 27, for insurance.. or EMAS at the end of 4L...

I guess as long as you brief it its all good... We only have 5000' but if I mess it up I also have another 600' or parking area I can use...

That might be the best thing you’ve ever said Felt 🤣🤣

I would be happy to reach out to the POI and report back. Take a good look at the ABG for BOS, specifically the section discussing runway 14/32.

Being a document that is specifically mentioned by the FOM to be reviewed everyday when operating at that specific airport, I’d be willing to bet the POI (and the lawyers) are well aware and reviews what it says.

Hi gents!
I went today to a JetBlue meet and greet, and the pilots said that it is possible to drop your entire schedule down to zero.
How true is that based on your experience? Thanks!

An over run that supports an aircraft isn’t there for when you “screw up” you can just add the 1000’ feet on to it to bring it to a stop, and taxi to the gate like it was just another normal landing.

That note is there as a friendly reminder that hey runway ends after 5000’ (which is says in the ABG), But the space beyond it can hold the aircraft. Proceed to gate. Fill out ASAP.

your original post comes across very much like a “get out of jail free card” if you screw up, don’t worry you got some extra wiggle room for a normal landing.

This is entirely true, although nearly impossible. It is done by having your trips picked up via the trade-board. If you are sitting at top 5% in base holding the most sought after trips, you may get lucky having a few taken off your hands.

It is possible to win the $660mil MegaMillions Jackpot today as well. I'd put the odds of dropping your entire schedule about the same.

It depends on how senior you are and the trips you can hold. If you can hold desirable trips during the week, your schedule will be gone via the trade board before the first drop/swap window opens
