I see you have ore important things to discuss now based on your companies newly announced altitude restrictions and the reasons for them. So you're correct when you said "Skywest isn't any other regional, it's Skywest" Lesson for the day, Junior. When you talk smack, a humbling is soon to follow. Carry on

Not to point fingers and I have no data to back this up, but it seems to me we have had a bunch of these so far this year. What has changed?

Now I always thought the sim during the interview was pretty dumb. But you had to pay attention and have good awareness to keep it on track. We stop doing it during interviews, take whoever we can and hope that training will flush them out and now we have a whole bunch of low speeds happening all of a sudden?? For me, I think that the departure of CE and our attitude of get any butt in the seat has to have contributed some to this.

Now that's ironic coming from someone who works at the fl410 club.

What is the criteria being used to define what a "slow speed event" is?

The hires you speak of have barely made it out of IOE. If you saw a list of the inattentives, you'd be surprised.

I think it has something to do with when one of your new hire Piper / Cessna CFI pilots forgets they're not in said aircraft any more and has yet to acquire requisite experience to allow said pseudo flight instructor captain who is too bitter and burnt to care to watch everything all the time slows their shiny jet down to below a safe and prudent speed, and then comes the real fun.... "Yeeee haw- I got this!"

Good to know. I wasn't sure if the timelines would match up because I couldn't remember the exact dates of CE's departure. Interesting info. I guess that just shows that we all need to remain vigilant. I do think some of the issues is with Credit/Block but in the air is not the time to worry about that.

An FO who does not have 100 hrs may not land or takeoff at a special qualification airport. The FO may land at these airports if the captain is a checkairman. SFO is included in the list of special qualification airports. Some airports in the Jeppesen kit have airport familiarization charts these airports do not apply. Skywest also has several airports that are captain only landings and some are also departure limited, these airports it does not matter how much time the FO has. All of the special qualification airports are also in the FOM. Hope this helped!
