You are high, put the crackpipe down and step away. They have been inflicting the "thousand cuts" for the last 15 years. The SKYW pilots are like the frog in a pot of water on the stove, they just increase the heat slowly and we slowly come to a boil. 3 union drives later, if you compare where we are now vs year 2000, we have given massive pay cuts and work rule concessions. They know that the pilots are toothless Pomeranian kicking dogs, very little bark and even less bite.
Those who fail to study history are doomed to repeat it. Ask a senior guy, when you aren't resenting him for sitting in your "seat" and impeding your career advancement. When you finally get the nerve up to vote in a union, they will have milked every last drop out of the existing agreement and stonewall you like the good reverend is doing at republic. See how well that is working for them? Skywest is bound and determined to make SKYW a cheap place to work, now no one wants to work there anymore....

You made a good point earlier about the company not intending to actually pay out on anything they agree to (like the raise for the EMB guys) That got me thinking that they have already went to Delta and United on some scheduling relief. This is supposed to go into effect in Oct. I have a hard time accepting that it's coincidence that is the same time our MTD increase goes into effect if the pay package is approved. And the scheduling liaison is supposed to start in August, but the vote doesn't even end until the 7th.

All this leads me to believe that they know the schedules will get more efficient with the new software and help from Delta and United. So we are supposed to vote in a crappy monetary increase for QOL stuff they are already going to be doing. Plus last year we saw an 8% decrease in block hours from August to September. This combined with people getting through IOE should increase our reserve staffing. Company is pushing this so hard right now because they have already been advertising the higher first year wage and they know there is scheduling relief already around the corner with lower block hours.

Additionally, all this new 4:1 already has the "originally scheduled" caveat. They know the money will be saved on making it even more difficult for reserves to break guarantee. But again, this package is just to convince another 15% to accept it to get the 51%. Hopefully everyone is seeing that there are really no gains in this proposal.

Got called twice by CS today, on my day off no less, to help cover trips. I know reserve staffing is practically nil, but c'mon, seriously...

January 2015 We had block hours in the 76K range for the RJ. PBS had 165 reserve CA and 171 FO lines. August 2015 We have 84K range block hours PBS has 145 Reserve CA and 57 FO's.

Between upgrades and attrition, we are bleeding FO's. Every month since March we have lost more FO's than CA's. (157 FO's YTD compared to 119 CA) So while we are filling classes, it's not helping with staffing numbers. (Interesting side note, we show 3605 for our pilot list, but only 2,900 in PBS. So that means we have about 700 pilots or 20% of our pilot list that are not active bidders in PBS) Someday, someone will learn that it takes about 4 months from bringing a pilot in the door to having them on the line and plan accordingly.

Not doubting you, except that every airline decreases their block hours from August to September. It happens every year.

I think you are spot on with this. There is deal already in place and not being advertised until a pilot package is in place.

Vote no and quit picking up open time!
