I could not help but look up who that FO was who was wearing the gold bars. Because I'm not a DB, like a certain photo taking new CA, I won't put his initials or anything out there, but seriously? How as a CA do you let a guy show up with gold bars on for the last 2 years and say nothing?

I believe the tipping problem is more society in general. I have thrown down a few extra bucks after everyone else has left the table even when out with non-pilot people. I worked in food service before and I think people that have generally have a better understanding. Always tip on pre-discount amount.

We are "cheap pilots." You never hear the phrase "spendthrift pilots." Unless it flies, floats, or you know.

I spent years in the food biz as well and totally agree that you understand better. Always tip well (unless bad service and I don't mean busy server induced bad service but inattentive server)

I just got an email from the fund raiser for the new hire that last month was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Apparently the DB that set up the fund raiser, Christopher Wharton, transferred the money into his personal account. He's transferred $23k after many requests, but still holding over $6k in donated money. After a little searching, it appears he's an Envoy pilot, same place Danny came from. This low life needs an education!

Hey guys, I was wondering if someone could check the loads for me on flight 223 ORD-RSW for tomorrow? I'd be trying to travel on a zed fare with a family of 4
Also, if we did get on, would we have to pay the fees for our bags as off line non rev airline employees?

So annoying, at the hotel the other day Im talking to a lady and she said she would love our low fares but is "afraid to fly spirit". The negative crap in the media and being the butt of everyone's joke is annoying, especially if ignorant people just assume we are dangerous because we are low cost
It's just a joke. We work for a discount airline. You've got to have thick skin to work here. Perceptions will change as people become familiar with the business model. It will just take a little time.On that note however, dirty airplanes and pilots wearing gold bars and North Face jackets certainly won't help our case. Hopefully we take some of this criticism constructively and use it to improve our image to the general public.
