First post and six months away from the amendable date and he or, sounds more like she, and the rest of class has had enough. Ha ha ha ha.

Such allegiance to a corporation that compensates 35% below market rate and has made no perceptible gesture to recalibrate. Adorable. Each is entitled to their individual opinion and judgment. The deeply help perception of "Spirit Exceptionalism" without a realized compensensatory basis is something that many find concerning going forward...

Cheers

Hey, you're free to look elsewhere or leave if offered, you're a few months senior to me, so no tears from me.

But if at 1.5 in, and your are already or finally seeing that Spirit is underpaid, well man, what have you been doing the last 2 years?

This isnt like Spirit has been in Section 6 talks for 5 years, stalling, and no end in sight. If that were the case, heck way before 5 years, I would be right there with you, exploring other options. But what did you expect when you were hired here 1.5 years ago? A new contract before amendable date? Spirit to come to the pilots and in the name of goodwill, give raises across the board? If bailing for a Legacy carrier, a little over a year before you upgrade, is going to provide a greater "service" to your family, have at it.

Man, people will continue to leave here for Legacy carriers, regardless if we make great gains with this next contract, people will leave. I know of a pilot leaving Spirit for DAL soon. Their decision to leave is mainly based on the fact that they want to work for a Legacy carrier.

Spirit will not work for everyone and some need to fly for a year or so to realize that deep down, they want to work for a Legacy and fly the big planes some day. Some people want to tell people they work for one of the big boys and dont want to hear "Spirit, dont you charge for everything." Some people are bothered by that and believe they will find satisfaction in saying they work for a Legacy.

One this is for sure, Management wont care. They wont care as long as

Cost of Training a new pilot < Paying pilots more

In the end, so if we are losing (and I dont know how many) say 4 FOs a month, all training has to do is drop another 4 in each class. Not only is the problem solved but they probably just replaced a 2nd year FO with another 1st year FO. So why do they need to pay more outside of Section 6?

While I agree with your assessment in the short term, I don't think that will hold over the long haul when pilots will leave in droves if we don't get a decent deal. Myself, part of the "tired if the bull****" included.

I hope our mgmt is thinking longer term. But of course in section six but they don't have years and years. As soon as the upgrade slows it will start. Once upgrade hits 4-5 years there will be a mass exodus.

Awsome ! After taking seniority away from OT in the last contract, the MEC FINALLY got some back.

It's time to start making myself "available"

I'm not a schedule expert so I'll ask, could they be using their 8% withholding to "hide" open time?

Although this is just a guess, I would say that there are over 5000 pilots at regional airlines who would enjoy working at Spirit much more than their current gig. That's a long way from a staffing problem.

This place was a revolving door for 30 years. I hope they don't plan on doing that again. In the past they just lowered their expectations for the type of candidate they wanted if they were having staffing issues instead of paying real money. If you need proof just look at some of the jokers near the top of the seniority list. Many of them clearly couldn't get hired elsewhere. Hell I wouldn't hire some of them to drive a hotel van, not because that couldn't do it, but because some have zero sense of how to function as a human being in society.
