Met a new hire last week with ZERO 121 time all 91 corporate, about 4500 in Lear 35. Also met one on IOE the other day who was 6000TT all 121 about 300TPIC and zero letters of rec, didn't know a soul here. Did live in Vegas though...

You are very right - it's unfortunate.

CA and SA are 99% turns.
Colombia, and a few other are daytime.
The great majority are red eyes.
One overnight, Lima, Peru.

Possible additions, and this is only speculation on my part,

FLL-BOG-UIO-BOG-FLL
FLL-BOG-GYE-BOG-FLL

With overnights in BOG.

The last four "all corporate" guys were training nightmares. Two were ultimately dismissed, the other two that I know of made it through with a lot of extra sessions. Thus, the current administration is "gun shy" of the all corporate crowd.

If you still can, find a way to show/emphasize your ability to quickly learn a new skill...anything that shows you will not be a training headache. That, and somehow get someone to see your resume!

Wow. I know your first 121 experience is demanding but I don't think our training is that difficult. Then again just getting used to the bus does take some time.

Sorry but this is simply inaccurate. Cargo guys have historically been welcome here and that is still the case. Many of our current pilots cut their teeth in the cargo/on demand environment and have proven to be a good source of labor. I know of at least 8 all-cargo guys that have come through training since September. In fact, one of our line guys that frequents the interview board is a former DHL (among others) pilot.

As for the "no -91" guys...not entirely true either. If they are a good candidate all-around, they will get fair consideration. I sat in on an interview panel a couple of months ago and we go the okay to a sharp guy that was all corporate. True, if two candidates are up next to one another and they are equal except for 91 vs 121 experience, the guy with 121 time will win out. Is there any question why?

The key- as has been mentioned- is getting your name on top of a pile of thousands...

Does anyone know the status of 609? Sitting on the FLL north ramp - grapevine said because DTW MX closed and contract work too busy to do the work, 609 couldn't be reconfigured to fly the line...

(Small amount of justice for the DTW guys. MX is the backbone to any good flight ops.)

Re new hires - word on the street - we've hired first class guys.
