I disagree with your premise, not altogether but essentially disagree.
We were weakened, but it was the entire situation at that time.
*Ned losing control to Jacob Schorr.
*Jacob Schorr bringing in institutional investors (Oak Tree).
*Oak Tree taking over and removing Jacob as President.
*Oak Tree bringing in Ben Baldanza as President.
*Oak Tree promoting Ben Baldanza to President and CEO.
*Ben Baldanza firing (over the period of 12 months) every VP, manager and/or director from Mirimar.
*VP OP's Scotty J being one of those senior leaders who got fired for a reason that we'll likely never know, probably just because he wasn't Bens friend from USAir.
*Oak Tree/Ben Baldanza bringing in Jeff C to replace Scotty J.
*The MEC (all four of them) using this fresh slate as an opportunity to make gains for the pilot group.
*"Palace Coups" inside Mirimar as the remaining upper management tried to consolidate power after each of Ben's removals.
*Jeff C's decision to remove 9 senior DE's/Checkpilots from the training dept.
* A large portion of the remaining training dept banding together, hiring an attorney, and attempting to sue both SPA ALPA and Spirit to regain their friends tng dept positions.
************************************************** *
*Oak Trees DECISION TO BRING IN INDIGO PARTNERS AS THE MANAGING PARTNER AND CONTROLLING INTEREST IN SPIRIT AIRLINES.
************************************************** *
*Indigo taking all expenditure power/discretion away from Spirit personnel (even VP OPs Jeff C). All spending went through Indigo reps.
*Indigo bringing Ford and Harrison, the anti ALPA law firm to work against us.
*Spirit changing from MD80's to Airbii. (the big push for transition coinciding with Jeff C taking over the tng dept and that ensuing mess).
*Ben Baldanza implementing his business model (Caribbean Visiting Friends and Relatives) at Spirit Airlines.
*Bill Franke, Indigo Partners, implementing his ULCC model on Spirit Airlines and finally,
*The world wide economic melt down of 2007/2008
And those were just the external influences on the Spirit Pilot group.
If you really do care to discover the cause of our weakness, you'll have to determine what makes a group weak, and I'll leave it for later but groups don't become weak from the external.
Blaming one VP OPs for all our problems is short sighted at best.

The pilot group elected someone else into the ALPA leadership positions when they realized what was going on. You have been campaigning (SpiritBboard and bar meetings...) ever since against the majority of the pilot group and that new leadership.
I am just one pilot, not part of any ALPA strategic campaign. I am just asking questions to try do determine if you are up to same old BS, or if you have learned something over the last 7 years. Right now the it looks like the same old BS.

Spiritman, if you would like to hear the full story instead of violating the ALPA code of ethics and the RICO Act, I suggest you ask me directly.
I am running a clean campaign and have nothing but respect for the other volunteers that are running, I may disagree, but I will not disparage. I will give you one chance to either contact me or post the full story on here. If you do not then I must protect my name and will litigate. John Steinbeck who owns this website will turn over the IP addresses of anyone in violation of the TOS. I have no idea why google seems to cache only that document, but I assure you that I did appeal and the NTSB eventually sided with me and I received a 180 suspension of my medical that was long since expired years earlier. If you must know, I was not a pilot when the DUI happened, I simply got a student pilot medical at an airshow and went on a 30 minute joyride. I did not report anything within the 3 years that medical was valid because I did not know there was any such regulation, I again need to repeat, I was not a pilot at that time, not even a private pilot, and the DUI was after the medical application. This DUI was later expunged. This issue was long since closed in 2004, I was hired by Spirit in 2007, I went through a few airlines and fully disclosed the matter, including here at Spirit.
My life is an open book, I have no secrets, so feel free to dig, but post facts, not a single document part of over 1500 pages of appeals taken out of context. If you are the person that I think you are, then you are treading on very thin legal ice, these allegations will not just get you banned from ALPA for life, but under the RICO ACT is federally prosecutable. Anyone with any questions on my character, honesty, transparency, please feel free to email or call, I will answer. If I have the legal assets and the resources to fight the FAA and win this, don't you think Spiritman I will have those same resources to defend myself against your accusations in court? My name is on this post, I ask that you man up and do the same.

No, I'm not the judge.
And Cole had no judgement, he evaded the truth, was dishonest and anything but transparent.
On his page he casts himself as a responsible honest trustworthy familyman.
But his trackrecord is anything but that. And that is revealing when your actions are not consistant with your words.
It's like a politician that runs a campain championing his opposition to corruption with a trackrecord of racketeering. Or being opposed to gay rights and getting caught with a "wide stance" in the stall of the men's room.
And no, I'm not the judge. But I could read a NTSB document that clearly shows that Cole was irresponsible, dishonest, and anything but transparent. A320 Flyer should stop carrying Coles water and let him fix his apparent disconnect between documented actions by independant 3rd parties and his self described picture of himself.

Read it and decide if he has the honesty and transparancy that we need.

You start a website where you imply either directly or indirectly in an election campaign that the current Reps, MEC lack integrity and transparency stating no objective facts to back-up said claim. Then yeah, the above document is fair game for the conversation.

Not blaming JC so much, he just did what he felt was his job. I am blaming you and Herb and Goldstein for taking his bait. And apparently you still believe JC and yourselves did the right thing. That is scary to me.

And to think I might have given you credit for actually being willing to have a real discussion.
Your comment about me and Herb and Goldstein shows your lack of grasp of anything of substance from that time period. JC came to town, and the four MEC members took advantage of that change to try and advance the pilots position, seven or eight months before I was anything but the last guy flying MD80's. It wasn't just Herb and Goldstein, it was both DTW Reps and both FLL reps. Reps doing the jobs they were elected to do. MEC Chairmen are not responsible for making policy nor decisions, they are administrators. MEC Chairmen only become dictators when their MEC's set them up to be dictators. You can't have it both ways, the elected reps are responsible no matter how much you want in to be otherwise. And let me remind you this, your DTW local attempted a recall of your FO rep in the fall of 2006 that was unsuccessful. UNSUCCESSFUL! That rep was pivotal in changing the SPA MEC from openly adversarial to Spirit to a working relationship, and he had enough support to withstand a recall.
You may wish for history to be remembered differently from what actually occurred, but wishing so doesn't make it so.
But at least your trying to move the group forward, we got that going for us!

I just nominated Cole on my ballot. Cole has stuck his neck out more than once to demand that the budget be published, consistent with ALPA By-laws. He's been personally slandered as a result.
He is still willing to stick his neck out for the sake of transparency that we all deserve as a pilot group. This speaks volumes about his character. It's tangible evidence he cares about us as a pilot group and wants the right thing done.
We need representatives that have been here for the ugly days and know what to expect in 2015 from the company and ALPA.

I don't agree with full name use unless the poster chooses to disclose their identity. I do think the last 3 weeks have seen this issue been beat to death and this thread has degraded into the vocal minority waging a smear campaign against their foes. The amount of useful information being disseminated on this topic has reached the end of the road. I don't think theres anyone in council 77 who still wants to be informed that has not seen a clear "for and against" argument on these topics.
So I guess you're a part of that vocal minority? Or did you forget about calling me a delusional paranoid?
Just kidding!
We will probably get along just fine in real life, why not come over to DFW and join us for some BBQ?

Yeah, that rep did such a great job when he left office he got a 6 year irrevocable leave of absence, to fly for China Eastern, don't imagine that was fun, where he got to accrue seniority and longevity. A deal I might add not available to any other Spirit Pilot. It was only available to himself and one other REP's and the NC Chairman. Who flew a BJJ in Israel and was sitting at home in FLL while we where walking the picket line. He returned to Spirit a few months after the strike. And as since gone back to American...

My comment earlier was formed through an opinion where I doubt there can be many DFW/LAS pilots left who actually want to be educated and have not chosen a side in the election process. Now, the issues have degraded into personal attacks and possible TOS violations.
Im sure we will enjoy flying together and if we have the chance we can talk about it further over a few cold ones..
