Also spot on!

Alaska's contract is current, ratified in 2013. 2nd yr CA at 170, 12th yr @ 200. JetBlue (they just got 3.5% raises on 1/1/15 btw) are about the exact same.
FO pay at each is about the same.

IF the company approached us and offered that pay, without us having to give up anything, and added some sweetener to the retirement, and offered it within a month or two of our amenable date, are you seriously saying you don't think that's a good deal for us?

What sort of justification can you offer to support the idea that we deserve significantly more than what our two closest competitors have? And yes, I realize we're only talking about a silly rumor (hadn't actually heard that one myself yet). I'll believe it when I have a TA to vote on.

Anyway, I'm a long time lurker and this seemed like a good time to join the fun!

I read and re-read Normann's post and I don't get at all where he believes that. My takeaway is that even given SWA pay rates, the productivity advantages our company realizes from high density seating and high aircraft utilization and other factors would still leave us short.

Having said that, if one even did believed that, why say it out loud? Like telling your wife that her butt looks fat or that her sister is hot, its the kind of thing that could come back and cause you all kinds of grief later.

All customer service agents except FLL officially notified that they will be outsourced some time in 2015. I really feel for those in ACY, DTW, and MYR. Many of them helped build this airline and this is their thank you.

If there was any question of how employees are viewed as a number and a line item cost, here is your answer.

How much louder do I have to yell SCOPE!!!!!

Wife used to work reservations back in 04-05 and did the same thing to them back then . Surprised they took this long to pull the trigger. They will probably give them the same job at $8 an hour...pathetic

Mostly disagree. I wish we didn't fly trash cans around. I probably have a bit too much personal pride. I agree it's mgmts deal and they seem to be doing a good job running the business. But I would stop short of saying I don't give a rats ass because I wish I could have at least a little more pride in the product.

Ual swa and usairways have waaaay cleaner aircraft.

It is not so much that I don't believe the company can't pay us SW rates. I ask everyone I am flying with about their response to the poll. Based on what I hear I usually feel like a greedy bastard compared to them. If most pilots don't want it, the union will not aim for it, and it will not happen. In 10 years, if the success story continues, this may change. Most guys say they would rather take a somewhat smaller chunk now, then later when we become stronger ask for me.

If I look at the general opinion in this thread, it seems everyone wants something much better than JB, but not quite SW yet. But all the above is my subjective opinion and nothing more.

I have been in at least 20 jumpseats on AA in the past two years and I did not see anything like what we have in our older airplanes. Not in the cockpit and also not in the cabin.

If you are OK with a filthy cockpit than I don't know what to say. I guess some guys show up in black sneakers and in white fishing shirts. At Spirit you get to see it all. I see seats with years old stains and an accumulation of bread crumbs and all kinds of food related dirt all over the place. You are really OK with that?

I agree with you, Stinky,

A 4 year Captain at Spirit makes 131/hr while at Alaska it's 174/hr. That's almost a 33% increase.

A 4 year F/O at Spirit makes 84/hr, at Alaska, 108/hr. That's a 29% increase.

In addition, Alaska has an industry standard 12 year pay scale, so you don't have to wait the extra 3 years to get top pay.
