Well, it kind of just makes the decision that much easier. Apply and see what happens in the meantime with our contract here.

I imagine that it will be hard for a TA that doesn't address this problem to be approved.
I agree. When I talk to the pilots I fly with almost all agree. They must fix the slope.

Not to say we don't need a HUGE raise, but.... Keep in mind that the legacies have a much bigger percentage of their pilot group at the top of the pay scale.... I would bet that at AA/US, more than 90% are at the 12 year rate....

That's fair but those huge numbers are including FOs. Our average FO here probably makes what?, 70k? That's horrible

Actually, if we include first year guys it's probably closer to 50-60k?

I agree that those numbers include their FOs.... The majority of which are at the 12 year rate....

Again, don't get me wrong- I know we need a big raise....

The other side of the coin is something our negotiators hopefully take to the table:

"Look at the rates AA is paying- while the vast majority of th pilot group is at the 12 year rate...."

Imagine the difference in payroll when say, 80% of your pilot group is at the 12 year rate vs if 80% is at the 1-5 year rate....

I think as we begin to see the real retirement and recruitment numbers for the legacy carriers, the future of Spirit becomes more and more drab. We've all come around to the idea that we won't have a contract before 2020 but id offer my prediction that Spirit will be bankrupt or at least a shell of its former self ala republic and Great Lakes if we don't have a generous contract by then. I honestly believe our management thinks it's being shrewd by stalling and following typical tactics for negotiations but while Nero fiddles, the pilot recruitment will dry up and burn down the house. I'd say its time to get out and leave management with what they've brought upon themselves. Or maybe optimistically they'll figure this out but that would require critical thinking skills they have shown to not to possess. I have loved my time here and never thought I'd consider leaving but the bait is just to good to not at least try.

Well said, my feelings exactly. It will be much better to try to leave now than to wish I had later.
