Just spoke with the union. To clarify. LTD does NOT kick in until 365 days after disability. Period. If you are disabled you have to cover your obligations out of pocket until a year passes. I thought it was 90 days but that was a typo. Something to make sure we have in the new CBA

The real question is do Delta and Southwest get contracts before ya'll and we do? Personally I'm hoping so - it'll just drive up the industry average. I think DAL and SWA contracts will happen in 12 months or less.

This has to be a misunderstanding. It clearly says "365 days of consecutive employment" and is referring to an initial waiting period from date of hire for eligibility for disability benefits. The 365 days is not a waiting period from the time of disability to the time of benefit receipt.
Incorrect. Just spoke with The committee yesterday. It's always been 365 days until
Benefits kick in. The 90 day waiting period was a typo. It's 365 days until your BENEFITS kick in. You're own you own from disability for a year

If that is true that is absolutely unacceptable. That risk alone might make it worth it to find another carrier to work for.

"To be eligible to be covered by ltd you must complete 365 consecutive days of employment. Once covered you must be out for 90 days to receive benefits. 90 days is the "elimination period" for benefits. 365 days is the "eligibility period" to be covered for benefits. Hope that makes sense. No change has occurred to the benefits of the ltd."

365 employment to quality for LTD
90 days to get a check.
Makes sense because when I was hired it was 90 days until I was able to qualify for the LTD policy, as reflected on the Spirit website under my benefits.
Its clear the R&I Committee needs a clear language email about this to the pilot group

***. It's pretty clear. What am I missing
I... Still refuse to believe this 365 day ****. Did we just get taken for a ride? Look at CBA 14.A.3. "
A pilot has 100 hours in his sick bank. The pilot suffers a long-term illness. The pilot will exhaust his sick bank. After 90 calendar days the long-term disability plan begins. A pilot receiving benefits under the long-term disability plan may at his option use any accrued vacation in conjunction with long-term disability benefit payments to cover the difference between the pilot's pay and the amount of the long-term disability benefit payment."

I stand corrected. The chairmen told me clearly it was 365 days until benefits kicked. He was clear. However I think he was unclear what I was asking Him. I'm clarifying with him at the moment. I understand the eligibility versus elimination period difference.
Like your not eligible for 401k for a few months, your aren't covered under LTD until you've worked a year. I clearly asked if my benefits were paid out to me if I was Diabled for let's say 8 months and he indicated no. But again I'm not sure he was clear what I was asking. If I'm wrong, apologies for spreading misinformation.

Well I hope to g-d you're incorrect because that would be pretty much useless in protecting people from financial ruin. Although based upon people's experiences trying to get money on ltd it sounds quite plausible
