Where are the "official" acceptance numbers?

The thing going on with CAL has nothing to do with your recall rights at UAL. (I assume you know that and are referring to when UAL starts doing recalls)??

To further the responses already given.
Regarding UAL recall, you have the right to bypass unlimited times for a UAL recall for up to 10 years from furlough date. Of course, what is going on currently is not a recall so has no bearing on this. BTW, all should know, the current UAL provisions expire upon new contract unless specifically included in the JCBA whenever that comes. Not saying anything other than they could go away unless negotiated to extend into the new contract. Devil's always in the details guys.
You have the right to decline a "new hire" position at CAL twice. After the first decline, CAL side will not contact you until you provide written intent to re-enter the process. There is a 30 day period after notification before you will be put back in the pool of potential "new hires." If you then decline after a second offer, you will not be eligible to re-enter the process for the TPA job opportunities over at CAL.
Hopefully, that answers your question fully.

Lee;
Thanks for the info, but now I have another questions. Are you saying the in a new contract, my 10 year deferral of recall could be negotiated away?
I am not planning on coming back, but I do want to retire while on furlough which I can't do for another 18 months. Zed fares on Star is about all I care about.
Thanks again

I'm not sure if you can even retire while on furlough; I thought that wasn't permitted.
I assume that you've also looked at all of the prerequisites for retirement - age 50 and x years of active service? I looked for the number of years' service required but didn't immediately find it on either Skynet or in C2003.
Are you able to get Zed fares as a furloughee? If so, could you briefly outline the process? Thanks in advance.

Yes, 10 year deferral of recall could be negotiated away in a new contract but I don't see that as likely.

The retirement "option" he speaks of is PBGC related. Don't know the individual or time at U.
Regarding side letters and MOU's, expect nothing. The furlough mitigation agreement can be sidelined with the stroke of a pen.
Will that happen? Who knows. C2003 was gonna save the pension...........
and at a cost far beyond fair and equitable.
Anything is possible. Time will tell.
Best to you and your's

I had thought that I would have to return to UAL to retire, but both ALPA's and the companies' furlough reps said that we could retire directly from furlough, if we meet the minimum requirements for retirement. I believe it was 10 years of service (I have that) and 50 years old (not there yet hence the 18 more months).
No ZED fares for furloughees that I am aware of. We do get passes on UAL, and I believe on CAL now. I use the passes all the time going back to the US from Beijing.
ZED fares on Star would be nice. I believe we also get medical benefits, which will hopefully cover my ObamaCare mandate, if that ever comes to fruition.

I remember reading one guy who retired at ~48 from UAL and made the comment that he should have waited until 50 because he hosed himself on lifetime passes. I've had similar thoughts on retirement and pass privileges.
I agree about contractual items/SLOAs/MOUs disappearing at the stroke of a pen but I don't see either side pushing to eliminate those items; I could be wrong (I've been wrong plenty of times in the past). With pilots currently on furlough, I don't see a lot of incentive to change the status quo because that'd expose both the company and union to possible litigation.

UAL/CAL passes - I've nonrevved on both. I found it somewhat easier on CAL; their flights haven't seemed as oversold.
I combed through C2003 for anything about retiring while on furlough - I didn't find anything. It might have been an item in C2K that was deleted. I did find a UAL FA voluntary furlough guide (1 Jun 11) that stated that they could retire while on furlough so I'd imagine pilots would have the same opportunity to retire on furlough. Hope this helps.
