Just wondering if you rounded up or if they just revised upward again from 1040 that they put out just a few weeks ago.

WAY too soon to think about, but... I'm looking forward to flying my butt off if I get the offer. I've had a great career (still eligible to stay in for another 6 Yeats if I want), but REALLY ready for a change.

Like most of you guys, I'm beyond words at this opportunity. I'll do what it takes to get passed this next hurdle.

As I stated earlier, I got welcome email on 7 April. Hogan link on 8 April, took Hogan on 8 April.

I got called on 10 April and given a 28 April interview date (that's quicker than I anticipated).

I am former military, but due to lack of flying recency I have been flying RJs for the past 6 months. I have listened to the Emerald Coast audio files and watched an online session (over the shoulder) of their interview prep. I'm not sure I can get the seminar in, even online, due to schedule. Any suggestions/advice for preparation?

The ONLY suggestion I have for preparation is to call Emerald Coast. Whatever you have going on, I would highly suggest rescheduling if possible. Family and kid obligations are extremely important but you have to weigh this interview against all of that.

If you go in and blow it bc you didn't do prep, you'll always wonder. They teach you how to sell yourself and teach you how to answer the question correctly, professionally and with a smile. Highly suggest it if you can. And if you've never flow a 737 or something with motors under the wing, do the prep the day before as well.....good luck sir

Cage consulting, you can do an in person interview prep at the holiday inn across the street from UAL training center the day before your interview. IMO an in person mock interview beats face time any day.

FTI sim prep the day before too, in the same sim you'll do the interview ride in. Also at the UAL training center.

The location of both Cage and FTI make them the best choices for prep.

I did interview prep with FAPA, Emerald, and Cage. Emerald and Cage were both the best, but in terms of a UAL interview Cage beats Emerald because of their location. You can do a mock interview the day before your interview in Denver instead of having to travel to another city with emerald.

The sim prep is a must if you don't have 73 time.

At this point, I would think that the limitation will be how many pilots can be trained. They're buying simulator time just to try to increase output.
I'll be surprised if they opted to shut down training this summer - they need as many pilots as possible to fly as many aircraft as possible because there is strong passenger demand. Coupled with very low fuel prices, a lot of flying that was previously a money loser should now be profitable.

With rumors of United scouring the world for used aircraft, it looks like they're trying to add as much capacity as possible right now. More capacity is needed. Load factors are in the low/mid 80s so capacity is pretty much maxed out.

Sitting through Basic Indoc this week which included an excellent brief from UAL's Senior Manager of Pilot Hiring. He said "you guys are probably all wondering how in the world you got invited to interview in the first place!" (he's obviously psychic). Then he talked a bit about some of the little things that make a difference on scoring an app prior to an invite - here are a few that I remember.

4 yr undergrad degree with GPA >3.0.
Examiner/Evaluator experience
Director of Ops/Chief Pilot experience
>100 hours within the last twelve months

Also, on top of this year's hiring numbers (approx 1040), he said the pace was expected to continue on into the first quarter of next year. The number he threw out was 500... for the quarter. I don't know how they will up production enough to handle it as they are about maxed out, so I think that number is pretty soft.

Anyways, I used Emerald Coast and it was worth every penny. Also, if you are not currently flying 121 or military transport work , the FTI sim prep is also worth every penny. Even if you are flying such work already, get the prep if UAL is where you ultimately want to be because the sooner you get on here, the better.

So the question is how do people get around some of these? I know a few in my small circle who have gotten the call with less than this.
