This is an awesome place to work. Great people and layovers! Sure there are negatives, but I choose not to worry about that which is out of my control.

Default Interview Calls & Hiring Predictions

If you want to do both, you need to schedule individually with each company. (I think Emerald Coast does both.)

While sim prep is a single session, the HR prep is done in multiple sessions, so you will want to give yourself more time to get it done. I am not in DEN, so I am doing initial consult via Skype, followed by an in-person meeting the day before my interview.

There may be more local options depending on where you live, but being short on time, I just locked in what I was aware of as quickly as I could.

Yes they are separate, 1100$ for sim prep and 400$ for HR with Cage. Both are well worth the money! Book as soon as you get the phone call, do not call your parents, wife or girlfriend. Call FTI and cage first!

I'm 42 and very senior.

Many of my friends say they are content and that they will be a "lifer" at the regional level. For many folks and their situations, that is a good move. I get it.
But if you are like me and you want the security and the challenge of something different, you have to be willing to step out of your comfort zone and do the things that the other pilots will not do:
1- Fill out your logbook.
2- Get interview prep before you get the interview. Trust me on this (you improve your flight skills, improve your communication skills).
3- Do a sim prep.
4- Go to a job fair.
5- Network with friends (at work, FB and here on APC).

I think attitude is key. Stay positive, uplifting, and hopeful. Avoid being negative and ticked off at the past 10-13 year career pause. We can't do anything about the past, anyway. We can be hopeful and encouraged that our time is yet to come. Prepare now and be ready for it!!
Some sage advice for all of us hopefuls. Congratulations on the new gig. You most certainly earned it.

I will enjoy it for the next quarter century. All about perspective. Years of military deployments, living in tents, getting anthrax and small pox shots.......

This place will never get bad enough to wipe the smile off my face.

Thats what EVERY new hire says. I remember my buds getting hired at TWA, EAL and PAN AM. All were ecstatic. Funny how things change. Give it time. And I remember my first few years at Mother U. It's a far different environment now when it comes to employee relations and respect.

I don't mean to diminish anyones enthusiasm, just keep in perspective what was required just to acquire the skills and experience to apply.

It should be what every Newhire says! Fresh blood, new faces, enthusiasm. With future hiring projections, UAL should be getting a healthy dose of optimism that makes for fun trips.

I did not experience the highs of the late 90s or the lows of post 9/11. So yes, I have quite a different perspective. Always smiling and up for a beer! The smile may last 5 years, maybe 10 who knows. But right here and now, life is good.
