Now, I'll wait for all the protests saying "I've never sharp-shooted the system; I only go to reserves on my days off" What a joke!

Not insulting sir, just pulling the curtain away and shinning a light on a practice that has affected or will affect many pilots in their career. You know what I'm talking about and I challenge you to be a military reserve in a way that does not affect the rest of the pilot group. You all know how to do that without sharp-shooting the system, so why don't you do it responsibly?[/QUOTE]
To clarify, would you encourage a reservist to manage his schedule not to affect the pilot group...at the expense of affecting his or her family, right? I thank you for your service. But if you haven't served in a dual military/civilian status while married with little kids, your opinion on the matter is irrelevant to me. There will always be disgruntled whiners who think they ate getting a raw deal.
If a pilot wants to "sharp-shoot" the schedule and find a way to have Thanksgiving off (and cause me to work it)...because he's going to miss Christmas, New Year's, Easter and three birthdays while on a six month overseas activation...I can delay my roasted turkey a day or two. I give thanks to him AND HIS FAMILY for their sacrifices and I'll do my part to aid their service to our nation.

And while we're at it, enough about Guard/Reserve, I wanna know why they aren't hiring mil retirees...namely me. It's not like we using walkers and canes yet, most of us can still fly a fairly good profile, with an operable autopilot of course.

Yes sir, successful CP M&G SFO late last December (2013). At that time, they said to be prepared for an interview call w/in a couple of months after the holidays...and then hiring came to a screeching halt coupled with a change in leadership at UAL HR, as I understand it from the outside lookin' in. Hypothesis: the M&G system may not yield an interview opportunity like it used to under the former HR?
Thanks. KJCRJ

I don't agree with the process but I think it might be worth a try.
Best of luck to you.

Half of my new hire class (myself included) were military retirees. Tons of us getting hired. Got a bro with an interview this month.
You'll get here too. Wish I could say when. If not, it won't be because of being military retired.
