UPS regret

Life is way too short, if you're not happy, get out and find something that makes you smile.
I wish you both the best,

2. Just because someone does not let every little comment made by some clown get to them doesn't mean they do not think there is room for improvement. I'm sure Aviator is not off in happy la la land thinking that this place is perfect by any means although there are other places much much worse I'm sure (since I've been there).

Seriously, yeah, you pretty much narrowed it down... I am a half full type of a person however that doesn't mean I'm not looking for improvements here... It's hard to sympathize with UPSMISTAKES and others like him (even though I try very hard to do that) when I have so many friends right now who live on $280 a week before taxes in unemployment benefits... I respect MISTAKES' views but simply feel that he should try to focus on the positive aspects, at least to preserve some happiness in his life...
To clarify things - Jetjok misunderstood a joke I tried to make in a different thread and turned nasty (although he later deleted his comment)... I have no doubt he and many others experienced bad things here at Big Brown and I’m sure he’s happy where he’s now…
It's quite possible that one day 757upspilot will be correct with his prediction that one day I too will hate this place or at least won't trust them... Who knows?
Having said that, I listen to other people’s experiences and advice but try to build my own opinion on things too... I haven't experienced anything of what Jetjock and others had talked about in the past but it doesn't mean I don't believe them... I'm simply saying it is because of their past experiences that things got so much better here but of course we can improve things even more...
I'm very grateful for their past sacrifices but cannot hate my employer simply because they were mistreated in the past. Frankly my employer has been pretty good to me... A few years back I dealt with my mom's brain tumor and needed some time off; recently I went through a very unexpected and painful divorce and again needed some time off... The truth is both the union but also my company bent over backwards trying to assist me with my personal problems... Again, I know what happened to the pilots of the past and it is because of their sacrifices that I'm getting the help I need today... So yes, I appreciate what they did; however, I cannot hate my company because of what happened to other pilots in the past... I can only learn from it - and I have...

This is the best job I ever had.
Worked 2 weeks since January.
Due to make over 160 this year.
as long as the furlough notice doesn't show up it's all good on the western front.
gotta go to the bank....

La la la la - I hear nothing in my la la land...

If this place ever gets the bodies where they need them, I will be amazed.
2 calls this weekend for JA ...
I'm not saying we are understaffed. I'm saying as long as contingency and marketing shuffle airframes around on a monthly basis, the bodies will always be in the wrong seats. Therefore we need excess manning and JAs to operate the system.
It also explains why we need more managers, especially in ANC. When over half the base commutes, who is left to cover JAs. Even the high credit *****s can't get into position for JAs in ANC.

Just think about how overstaffed we would be if Alanta had stayed out of the determination of which airplanes where purchased. We would have a 747-400, 767/757 fleet instead of a 757/767, MD-11, 747-400, A300-600 and just parked the DC-8 and 747 classic. We would have had very few career training events and just two qualifications. Staffing would be greatly reduced.
Yeah, I would not have been hired yet ...

Or have gotten 2 type ratings in less than 2 years.

I'm not complaining. I was just pointing out the obvious about our "overstaffing" issues.

Lower maintenance costs too.
B.L. even admits that this is one of his regrets. I'm sure he takes comfort in the fact that it didn't happen on his watch. He was still busting kneecaps in Boston <G>
