How many days are you gone if you pick up overtime?
Sent...…. for those interested the short version is

Gross currently for first year is $86.8k minus 2 months on training pay
in April that changes to about $91.4k minus 2 months training pay
Take home varies by state/local taxes, withholding, benefits selections, per diem, 401k contribution and other variables.

Average guy does 25-45 hours of flight time per month, and gets guarantee of 64 hours, plus any OT and soft money pay

Average guy is physically gone from home 15 days a month. Useable up to 18, but typically only gone 15.
Overtime takes away from days off depending on length of trip and how many days you volunteer to work extra.

It's a great place to be.

I'm one of those guys... this could take a long time to explain, but if there is a will there is a way, especially if you're flexible and maintain a positive rapport.

There is reserve at home before and/or after your operating days. Or there is no reserve at home and you're gone all month. You're better off just going with the flow and letting things happen. ACMI, and especially Omni, schedules are nothing like any other kind of airline out there.

Couldn’t agree more. It is a fantastic place to be.

All the above is accurate. In some cases though you are actually home more. I’m averaging about 12 days at work a month over the last three years. However some seem to get used the 16-18 days every month.

Comes down to the whims of the scheduling gods I guess. 😉

There are roughly 100 airports on the list. If you do not live within 2 hours of one of them I could see you taking a QOL hit.

You're welcome.

Where is home?

It is possible to request an airport is added to the list, no guarantees though.

Home is “LA” Lower Alabama. 2 hrs. from TLH, 2:15 from the PNS and about 3, depending on traffic to BHM. Which are listed on APC as bases.
So TLH is at this time my closest home base listed.

On another note, are the scheduled days of work in one big block or separated into several small blocks of days?

Hubs, Never Mind on the schedule question. I got to page 223 in the forum and found it. Thanks again for the insight.

So before everyone gets super excited about having Thanksgiving a christmas off.

Late November thru February are Omni's slowest months due to how the government (our biggest customer) operates. You'll see the opposite in the summertime.

Being backed up with OE (not overwhelmingly) and COKS helps as well.
