Todays colleges do not provide an education. They are a debt scam and indoctrination camp. I went back to school to add a degree a few years ago and was shocked at the indoctrination and complete lack of actual knowledge being passed.

Notwithstanding the value of a education is invaluable, you just can't get it from todays available collegiate options.

Default Sat tracking goes live

An interesting little article

Tracking airplanes anywhere in the world just got a lot easier. The U.S. firm Aireon says its new satellite surveillance network is now fully live and being trialled over the North Atlantic. The system employs a constellation of 66 (Iridium) spacecraft, which monitor the situational messages pumped out by aircraft transponders. These report a plane's position, altitude, direction and speed every eight seconds. The two big navigation management companies that marshal plane movements across the North Atlantic -- UK Nats and Nav Canada -- intend to use Aireon to transform their operations. The more detailed information they now have about the behavior of airplanes means more efficient routing can be introduced. This ought to reduce costs for airlines. Passengers should also experience fewer delays. Aireon has receivers riding piggyback on all 66 spacecraft of the Iridium sat-phone service provider. These sensors make it possible now to track planes even out over the ocean, beyond the visibility of radar -- and ocean waters cover 70% of the globe. The rapid-fire nature of the messaging also means aircraft visibility is virtually continuous. Existing data links only report ocean-crossing aircraft positions every 14 minutes.

Default those awaiting a call

Just to give you guys a heads up. I'm in OMNI ground school for the 767 currently. Management approached us yesterday with saying that sims times are backed up 4-6 weeks minimum. Everyone that applied and awaiting their interview keep calm they want you here just be patient as they work through the training process. They are a small company with limited resources to interview and get large group of pilots through training.

To rule out rumors, the most junior captain just upgraded at 1 year 9 months. they expect to stay that way for a while as they are growing their operation. expected to get 3-4 b-777 in the cargo configuration which is why they are vamping up hiring.

Those that are awaiting interviews..... they conducted interviews yesterday. there was suppose to be 8 in the interview and only 4 showed. the others called within 48 hrs to say they couldn't make it. this puts strain on them to get you guys through the process. HR was saying that they were going to call or suggest you guys to call to see if there is any open availabilities for the interviews.

hope this helps.

Thanks for taking the time to post. Appreciate the info! I have an interview on the 9th and was curious if they will continue to hire into both airframes? Or, will most of the hiring be for the 777 due to the additional expansion into freight?

You’re right. I’m working on my MBA now and it’s essentially self taught. So I’m paying $1,023 per credit hour to teach myself and when I ask a professor for assistance I’m literally told to Google it. This is a top 50 program so it’s not from a degree mill university.

The airframe for each class is still a total crapshoot and can change a week or so before they schedule the class. The expected growth is in the 777, but there are way more 767s currently. All classes in the last few months have been for 767s though.
