Business Class Perk at Omni
Question for any Omni pilots out there:
I understand that international DH flights over 3 hours are put in business class, but pilots can opt out of the upgrade in exchange for a stipend from the company. I was just curious if this is something you can choose on a flight-by-flight basis, or if you have to choose it on your travel preferences? And if so, how often can you change your mind?
For example, I might want the business class upgrade on a 15 hour flight, but might just take the stipend for a 4 hour flight.
As nice as business class sounds on a long flight, I'm hearing that some pilots are making several thousand dollars per month just by opting for economy class.
Thoughts? Thanks!

As far as I know you can switch as often as you like. Personally the payout isn’t worth it Business is the only way to go. What you can do is business until you get status on the airlines then opt for the payout and your status will get you upgraded.

I agree the payout isn't close to being worth it, and honestly haven't met anyone voluntarily taking the money. Also, status alone will not get you an upgrade on a transatlantic/transpacific flight. You either need to use miles and a co-pay, or a SWU/GPU if you are a uber elite member.

I realize that, I was being facetious.
To each, their own. Nice that there is the choice, but as I said I am yet to meet anyone doing it voluntarily. If the amount was higher, I would imagine more people would be interested.
