So.. back to the 0600 pre posted rest on the last rsv day before a golden x day. Earlier in the month scheduling gave me a trip that dropped the pre posted 0600 rest on my schedule the last rsv day before my golden x day. Trip released at 1405.
Today I get assigned a 3 day trip starting Sunday. I have 4 days of availability starting Sunday. There are 4 pilots with 3 days of availability all starting lc the same time as me sunday at 0000. Should the trip not have gone to one of them? The only thing i can think of is they all have to preposted rest the 17th starting at 0600. But as I said above they dropped that 0600 rest for me earlier in the month and assigned me a trip that released at 1405.
i called scheduling and they said the reason none of those pilots got the trip is because of that pre posted rest. By that logic i should have never gotten the trip earlier in the month that interfered with my preposted 0600 rest. Seems like bs to me that they just cut into mine and then refuse to drop others 0600 rest to assign them a trip. What is that all about? It’ not consistent at all I just dont get it. Any insight would be great maybe im missing something.

I've been assigned a trip because I didn't have pre-posted rest and the others ahead of me (RUO) in same bucket did. I called scheduling, they explained that the coverage report doesn't show those pilots as eligible and the trip was mine, enjoy.
I've also been assigned a trip when I was the pilot with pre-posted rest, they assigned it to someone below me (RUO) in same bucket who didn't have rest, but that pilot called scheduling and got them to remove MY rest and assign ME the trip.
I'd like to know what that pilot said that I didn't say to the scheduler that got them to drop my rest.

It's wildly inconsistent and goes by the whim of the scheduler. And I've been on both sides of it.

Is pre-posted rest supposed to extend all the way until 2359 on your first X-day? Like spanning the entirety of your first X-day. The 15th is my first X-day of that off day block, and schedule shows rest until 2359 on the 15th...? It looks wrong.

They post "rest" on your last day to let you know you are released from work.
You now about your XX day before hand....you know you aren't working that day...they don't have to put the word "rest" on there.
Having said that, the "rest" on your last on call day combined with the XX day, could very well be > 30 hours, so it does count for rest with regard to 30/168 loopback.

thanks for the input. Yeah unfortunately ive just been on the bad side of it this month. Like you said its just the inconsistency that’s frustrating. Makes me think some of this reserve stuff just comes down to luck sometimes. Ive been used every reserve stretch this month at mid seniority in category and super junior pilots in category sitting at 2-3 days worked so far
Something tells me this has to do with preventing senior to mid senior folks (who can easily bid between RES and REG and wash payback days) from getting said payback days somehow. Either by dissuading them from bidding RES altogether now that they know they’ll ACTUALLY be utilized or something else…. I can just feel it
