I'll take a banked PB day and throw it in the middle of a stretch of 5 days on call. It really limits what they can and can't use you for. 3 times a year you can do the same with IVD/APD. You can do the same with a PD if there is coverage but you take a 4.2 hour pay hit for that. The busy summer months I'm flying to closer to 50 hours a month but once things slow down I have a few dozen banked PB days which will result in very little flying Oct-March. Every block of reserve come Oct-March will get a PB day thrown in the middle, assuming there is coverage to do so.

Has this been asked before?:
When on reserve with a day left of reserve before xx days. If you put in for a greenslip would they ever award you a greenslip that starts on your “on” days that carries into your xx days or does the system not do that?

Yes. They would award you a GS info x days.

Yes, in limited circumstances, but only the first day’s block/DH goes above guarantee. The balance (and all non DH credit) goes towards guarantee. And no PB days. In iCrew this is coded as “F#1” and counts toward your Gs tally. Rarely a good deal.

A reserve pilot can't self certify their own rest. If you are on LC, you can only do a GS if the report time is > 10 hours out since they have to put you to rest for 10 hours. If the trip was > 12 hours out they would simply assign it to you as a long call assignment. So the stars have to align where the GS trip is in that 10-12 hours until report window if your current status is on LC.
