I agree with the sentiment of your post, but when applied to an individual level, it doesn’t hold up under scrutiny in this particular instance. When the criticism isn’t evenly applied, it’s partisan.

If you are interested google "The Algiers Accords & the Iran-US Claims Tribunal".

The payments made during the Obama administration were the last made by the US to Iran. The lawsuit dates back to 1981. If I recall, $1.7 billion was paid to Iran from the US and $2.5 billion was payed from Iran to the US. The money went to individuals, companies and both governments. The reason the payments were made in cash was because Iran was under sanctions and didn't have access to the international banking system.

You know, when you silo yourself in a information echo chamber in an environment where both foreign and domestic actors are trying to manipulate public opinion, you are surrendering your sovereignty. You are literally allowing people who you have never met, people who's motivations you don't understand to control what you think.
Great post.

What, in our governments current spin is called Unpredictability is in actuality erratic and chaotic behavior.

Using that interpretation unpredictability is not a strength. It is a revelation of one's lack of knowledge and preperation.
It increases the likelyhood of a series of events that kill millions.
Or worse.

Erratic behavior involving airplanes, guns, or armies, frequently gets people killed.

Next time an FO questions me, I'll just tell them they don't have the bigger picture. They're playing checkers and I'm playing 4D chess!

I wanted to avoid this thread like the plague…

Regardless of your opinion on the conflict…if you think Iran hasn’t been behind the deaths of US service members until the last two weeks, you’ve lost credibility in the conversation

We're all entitled to our opinions. As director of CT though, well, maybe for the best. Not losing any sleep over his departure.

Since the last person who debated this avoided the question, what nationality in the last 30+ years from the ME has resulted in more US deaths?

Saudi or Iranian? (not including countries we invaded because of definitely a WMD threat)
