$150,000,000,000.00 airplane orders for the Middle East

Gulf airlines splash out over $150 billion as Boeing launches new jet - Yahoo Finance

a sign of the Gulf's increasing power in the industry, Emirates Chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said he was confident of a shift in stance in the West that would allow the group to fly more of its planes to airports there.

"We are buying a product from their countries. So why would they not allow us to fly to these airports? If they don't, they can take their planes back," he said.

A group representing U.S. airline pilots, meanwhile, warned that the sale of hundreds of planes to Gulf carriers that compete with U.S. carriers would have "serious consequences for the U.S. economy and U.S. airline workers."

Just seeing if anyone is paying attention........ like it or not this thread hard to read anymore!!!!

The obvious tangent of my post reflects the general feeling out on the line..... mention ALPA, the response "what did we give away this time?"
mention DPA, the "those guys just want to redo the SLI"

the whole DPA/ALPA issue is crazy, and not what we should be focusing on, BTW that govt owned airline in dubai is looking to add a huge number of 380's....

that is the only real issue facing us pilots!!!

The ME airline issue is purely a Washington issue. America has been for sale since the Declaration of Independence was signed.

I don't hold much hope on ALPA influencing that. Do you?

I hold infinitely more hope that ALPA can versus the impotent CAPA or a bunch of stand alone unions.... SWAPA doesn't give a rat's ass about it since it will never affect them, so there's any help out the window. (Same thing with VX, JBLU, SAVE and the other small domestic carriers)The RJ players don't care since they aren't directly affected... and we have a .gov that is bound and determined to give American jobs to whatever country is bribing them with the most toys, gifts and free vacations. But as typhoon pilot says in another thread.. they are just a "little airline" that presents no threat to us so I guess I am just being paranoid...

If for no other reason, THIS is the reason that we need national unity with a voice that is heard. This is deregulation in the final phase... world deregulation... cabotage.... Chuck Shumer wants it. Barry Owebama wants it...

No question, ALPA is best prepared to serve US pilots going forward in this regard. That I know for certain.....

Nothing good happens to a sheep.

If you don't contact your congressmen and senators over H.R. 3488, then you deserve to get treated like one.

Well all you church skipping heathens, did my post get turned from a molehill to a mountain or what.

I agree ALPA has more influence than any other union or union group. That said, America is for sale, wake up, look around.

Heck, T doesn't even back the PAC and he's dogging me?

I have no hope of ALPA legally stemming the Mid East influence.
