I'll say it. Kareem Abdul Jabar as a Delta Pilot in our new safety video. Career expectation exceeded, self actualization complete.:D

It took my neighbor 7 hours to get home from downtown... yikes! Apparently there are bunches of cars out on the roads that ran out of gas out on the roads.
After 5 hours of that the line of cars is never ending. The Tech Ops guys decided they are going to work. So we got them unstuck and I started walking home. Found three families spending the night in their cars including a Pan Am pilot and his wife who had picked up their 3 year old grand (great?) daughter from school, ... two of the three families are in our house and one is with our neighbor. Never seen anything quite like this. Our friends kids are everywhere. One group is spending the night in a furniture store (beds and couches). |

That's what happens when all the northerners go "I drove in this stuff all the time up north, I'm going to show them!"

Much like Dubai when it........rains! Schools and roads closed, Metro shutdown, Airshow cancelled. An EK pilot thought it was exactly like ATL after 2" of SNOW!

Re: German sports sedans - yeah - "all season radials" that are basically sport tires. Everyone up here puts real snow tires on theirs come winter.

I live in Idaho and took drivers-ed when I was 14 in a Caprice that we had to chain up in to get through some of the driving days. Lived in Montana for a few years as well,. I've seen rain change to freezing rain coating everything in 1/4 inch of clear ice then dump snow on top of that. It's actually worse when it only covers the ice with about 1-2 inches. If it dumps 8-12 inches on top then you have plenty of traction to get around. I can throw snow cables ($29 at Autozone) on my Civic and drive through about anything. lived in IAH for 6 years and would always venture out during the massive winter weather systems. Never saw anything that was even close to crap that we actually drove in during drivers-ed when I was 14 years old. |

GF The German sedans with their open differentials and ABS based traction control systems are just absolutely terrible. Not only do they get stuck, the brakes and rotors are smoking. Those things are probably 20% to 30% of the cars around here and about 90% of the types found in the ditch. Subarus, F250's and for some reason Honda Oddessy Vans are unstoppable. The beggest suck surprise is Jeep Grand Cherokees. The must have sold a lot of those with 2WD or something. They're awful today. |

Went to pick my daughter up from pre-k. It's 9 miles away, at 1:30 I left the school and was home in 25 minutes, about normal. Her teacher left at 2pm, at 8pm she had only gone 3 miles, she pulled into a hotel and is sleeping in a lobby packed with people sleeping on the ground. I'd say we're getting close to about a dozen of my wife's coworkers abandoning their cars on the roads on their way home. Most around the 5 hour and 3-5 miles into the road.
We are stuck in the house, both of the entries and exits out of my neighborhood are impassable. Well one you can do with a 4x4, the other you can't even do with a 4x4 unless you've got chains and even then it's packed with abandoned cars. I know GA 400 is now closed. I'd talk trash all night here, troll a tad, but i've got to study. |
