Not true. As we still have a big swing between summer flying and the rest of the year, we should still see tight staffing in the summer and looser staffing the rest of the year. Maybe not as much as before, but still enough to generate a fair amount of reserve guarantee.

This is the guarantee that the RCC has lately been able to convert into credit time in the bid package.

Nobody has said otherwise. What you and alfaromeo etal fail to acknowledge is that pilot block hours are highly influenced by the growth of the airline or lack thereof. The two can occasionally diverge if labor gives up or wins productivity items, or when the airline embarks on a re-fleeting strategy. Other than that, airline growth (positive or negative) equates to pilot block hours which generally equates to pilot jobs. You and the other morale crushers can't acknowledge airline growth because it would defeat your entire thesis about C2012 being a net positive value to pilots.

I'm not anywhere near the sandbagging club, my personal goals for what this contract will entail is lofty. I plan on doing my part to increase awareness and get pilots to start supporting the MEC/NC... Like it or not, those ARE the guys who will be doing our next round, and if we don't support them and throw our weight behind them the result will certainly be below our expectations... Get the loud minority and silent majority behind the MEC/NC and the chances of the next PWA getting the "PD Stamp of Approval" stand a much better chance.

Sitting on the sidelines and lobbing grenades at the MEC/NC will only undercut the leverage and the effectiveness of their ability to get what you so emotionally crave. I want the Company to see a gang with all 12,000 members standing behind their elected representatives, ready to go when the reps make the call...

I don't want them to see a gang with 3000 members who publicly want to leave and talk trash about the other 9000 members, 5000 members who could care less, and 4000 members who are trying with little support to force the company to make all 12,000 satisfied.

Which group will you be part of and help build?

It was known among high level executives that Delta was being managed into bankruptcy at least as early as the Summer of 2001. There are a few Delta pilots who understood and who will speak candidly.

Please watch the link above. It is an old story now, but Delta hired McKinsey Company's consultants to advise and they ran the exact same playbook they had run at United. Pay particular attention to the discussion of "first day orders" in the video.

ALPA overall did a very good job for Delta pilots in a terrible no win situation. I remain highly critical of some of the choices made (scope sales) because outsourcing has negatively effected tens of thousands of pilots now and cost even the "lucky" like me at least 1.5 million in career earnings potential. But, for the group ALPA was focused on, the association did a good job.*

Only a very few pilots are objective enough to appreciate the minimization of harm (as opposed to pay increases which are more easily measurable). Because of that, some were in positions to remain somewhat blissfully unaware of just how bad the profession has got far underneath them.
