Why do you think Air Canada bought Embraer E-jet over more CRJs?

Then reality will hit.

Wait a minute, Ts. Right now you guys are undefeated. It's all about perspective. :D

While they could, the ImEx crony-capitalist corporate welfare takes the form of preferred financing. That's not transferrable. But the fact that it exists creates malinvestment and artificially drives up prices (thus creating the "need" for more preferred financing, and so on).

So if they tried that, we'd be buying the back at a higher price than we could get them for because their sale prices were based on the fake government backed financing that threw the false money into the sector in the first place.

It would be like asking someone to get into a preconstruction Vegas condo in 2006 with a liar/ninja loan and you buying it from them when you could have got it anyway. You gain nothing but in the process of participating you've driven up your own costs in the long run.

You are generally one of the most level headed and objective posters on here. It amazes me how some guys get so aggressive and critical of fellow DAL Pilots - we are all on the same team, we all want the same thing.

I have been attacked on here every so often - usually when another Pilot
misinterprets my meaning - I guess it goes with the territory.

Keep up the excellent and informative posts.

Scoop :)

Ditto, glad to have you here Alan.

As it stands now, I spend the majority of my time on here reading the first one or two sentences of a post, moving on, because its the same bs, only to find that the whole page is full of "union this vs. union that" crap.

Request:

Less union debate.

More hot chicks, funny stories, and wide body rumors (Boeing), please. :)

Agreed. Besides, contract stuff hurts my brain.

Here's a new rumor: Any new heavy order will come with all new flight attendants:

I won't argue that point at all. But if it weren't for those other entities, Delta would not be the global power it is. So it is up to them to make themselves "more expensive". It is simply not practical for us to serve all markets into which we now have reach. It is extremely naive to believe otherwise. So we need to strike the balance. I agree that the JV flying is out of whack (or will be) and (sorry ACL) to say that it currently is not out of compliance while true, is legalese that is just silly. Anyone with a pulse that is remotely paying attention knows that it WILL be when the time comes. And like most on here, I believe we should be made whole. Now... how do we do that without "selling" jobs?

If you want the iron clad all encompassing scope clause, you need to work for SWA or ALK. (But I believe SWA's is in serious jeopardy.. JMHO)

Oops, I guess that's 2 questions. That's fine. I don't know that there is an answer to it.

Denny

I thought I had. But kindly let me know if you have questions. I don't mind.

Delta is quite a ways away from being able to be "Delta" without Delta pilots, but it would appear we are bracketed on the top and bottom ends of our flying.

Yeah but the corrupt and economically failed process that makes any of that possible in the first place only serves to drive up the prices everyone pays while artificially increasing irrational competition in the long run. BA and AB claim they each "have to" do it only because the other does it. Meanwhile its creating a massive bubble that will come to a head as the dellusional fake royal emerati and company begin to flood our skies with unbeliebeavle amounts of false market competition in the form of government backed capacity.

ACL, you know darn well Delta is not in compliance with PWA 1.P.4:

We are now in the "cure" period and Delta has until March 31, 2015 to come into compliance as mentioned in 1.P.6:

  • Per the PWA were supposed to have 50% share of the flying
  • The PWA gave the company 1.5% "wiggle room" on a 3-year average
  • On March 31, 2014 we ended the first 3-year look-back.
  • Delta fell short of even the 48.5% lower band and clocked in at 46.8% (OAG data says 47%).
  • We are actually below our historic share of flying before adding Alitalia to the TAJV, when 52% went to 47.5%*.

This should be a sticky and a poster on every crew room wall until this is resolved. Its hard to believe something this massive and crucial is so relatively under the radar.

ALK has no scope beyond what Endeavor has with Delta (similar fleet model). I was too over-educated for SWA and don't think enough of that torture chamber Boeing calls a 737NG to spend the rest of my professional life there. I think SWA has issues, but outsourcing is not one of them. Perhaps Jet Blue would be a better model to test your theory on and they do operate their own RJ's.

SWA needs only the right management, back office systems and procedures. Richard Anderson's team could do wonders with that place.

T, the answer is easy enough. Force Delta to staff our share, whether or not we perform it. Pilots move up the stove pipe and get paid; Delta loses the financial interest to engage in illegal self-help.

I find it interesting that if I engage in blatant self-help, I would be fired. When management does it, we talk and maybe exchange some percentage of the actual harm caused. Yes, I understand it was inconvenient to comply with our Contract, but how would Delta respond if we acted in similar fashion and stated, "you know with Ebola, terrorists blowing things up and Malaria; we just don't find that back to back red eye trip that duties in after 22:00 just to cheat us out of a day's pay to be an appealing place to do business in."

There is a ridiculous double standard. If I'm ever President of ALPA, I'm going to kill the RLA, or die tryin.
