True, but if coverage were good all the time there would be a lot less opportunities to earn PB days.

Running the category lean enables the GS in the first place.

New Flight Bag

Time for a new flight bag and I don't want to go the backpack route.

What is the best flight bag that will hold a 15" macbook, surface, and other required reading material????

I wish Scott Leather would make a narrower and smaller version of their classic flight bag.....(are they still in business??)

Which begs the question, what then?

Assuming you never get to use your PB days, they turn into supplemental vacation for the next year. One tip to get rid of them if that's what you prefer, is make sure you have your bid in on the 20th 0700 PCS run for the following month. Even though all days might be show black, on the 1st run there may be a small window of time where through swaps your day turns into a blue day.

Although I know I didn't get my full potential for the PB days I'm quite happy to get 23 days off in a row while my kids are off on summer break this year after less than just 2 years on property. The supplemental vacation must touch a block of "standard" vacation, and it is your choice if they go in front or the back of the vacation. Even though I was bottom 15% of the list when I bid vacation I was able to get a little bit of time at the end of summer. Then I was able to pile my PB days at the front giving my family the opportunity to take a nice relaxing vacation without trying to cram it right up to the day school resumes.

^^

That sums it up for a category that is short.

I've usually been able to get rid of most of my PB days without having them go to Supp vacation days. I think the worst year I carried 7 over for vacation. I've had as many as 21 days banked at one time. Get your PD requests in for the first PCS run every month and leave them in.

You can use them to get paid for your APD as was mentioned as well.

If we actually got paid an average day for vacation, it would be a good deal to have them used as supplemental vacation days. As it is now, it's hard to feel good about getting 3:15 a day for them when you can easily pull 5:15 for them. In SLC right now, senior guys can use them to dump MEX turns and get 8:30 per day for them!

Tom Bihn bags. Pricey, but very well made.

You can't put them on top of an APD, I tried and was told unable. If you use a single day of APD to drop a 4 day trip, you can put the PB days on the 3 days which are not the APD, but not the APD itself.

I highly recommend the brand Bison Mountain. I think it's a SWA pilot who owns the company. I have one of their backpacks and absolutely love it. Very well made.
