When did all the displacement talk start? Is there an official source leading people to speculate on that, or is it all top secret back channel information? Is there a way to update one's displacement preferences prior to the AE opening? You guys are starting to freak me out a little here.

Tomorrow is the plan.

If they do the ER CVG base they will be displacing all of the CVG 767 crews, so one way or another I think you will see some......

Yep

I've heard this from a few as well. I think mngt. has said the 20th would be the AE, anything beyond that is speculation, but don't be surprised. Which leads us to.............

the above question, absolutely have your displacement preferences updated. I think it's under the "bids" tabs. It's somewhere close to that, almost more important than equipment is the base you would like to be displaced to, if that should happen.

Ok... hopefully somebody can shed some light on this question. I'm a CVG 73N F.O. I'm very junior in the company. I only have about 13 pilots below me. The only two other positions that have pilots junior to me are M88 NYC and CVG. Should my displacement bid have just those two positions? I've had some others tell me to put what I want such as SLC and LAX, but my seniority can't hold those positions. I do have those options in my A/E bid, but it seems pointless to put them in my displacement bid. Am I wrong? I'm just trying to get some straight answers here!

Always, always, always, bid what you want regardless of what you think you can hold.

I second that. Because the A/Es will shuffle aircraft to different bases, what you can hold in a particular base before the bid can change significantly after the A/E bid closes, especially in times of significant fleet growth and/or retirements. You can specify how junior you're willing to be to accept an A/E bid by specifying a percentage value from the bottom of an aircraft category under the "low %" column. For example if you input 20 under the "low %" column, you're saying you'll only take a bid on that position if you're at least 20% above the bottom pilot i.e. in the top 80%. So bid what you truly want and good luck.

Cycle Pilot,

Yes, as others mention, put EVERYTHING you want in your displacement bid. Odd things occasionally happen when flying gets shifted around the system. I've been displaced only once in my career, and it ended up being to a higher paying position.

Anytime I think there's a chance of being displaced, my displacement preferences mirror my AE preferences.

I've bid what I want on my A/E bid, of course. If I were to copy that bid over to my displacement bid, I'd run out of room on my displacement bid as there's not enough room on the form. Doesn't it defeat the purpose to put stuff on my displacement bid that's also on my A/E bid? I guess the big question is... Should my displacement bid mirror what I have on my A/E bid along with the stuff I don't want?

Ok... that's what I've heard. But they don't provide enough spots on the displacement bid form as they do on the A/E. I run out of room! Being as junior as I am, there are a ton of options for me to move up to a "better base and aircraft."
