I am not sure where some of the wild numbers being put out here come from. To match SWA in pay if you compare their 737 rate to ours at the amendable date of our contract will require about a 15 percent raise in direct pay rates. If you add the value of the DC contribution to the mix then the raise would only have to be around 9 percent. If we go to the company demanding SW compensation the company might just say no problem. Here is their total block hour cost per pilot. We will be glad to pay you that!!!
Hint, Their total block hour cost verses ours is not that far apart. We probably don't want to go there.

OOO ooo OOO, I know ... because ALPA works for US!

I got an infraction for that!

Sailing holds no position within ALPA that I am aware of.

Really? That's interesting. So how did they get to 7.6% above our actual C2K compensation* and only 10% below our C2K compensation adjusted for inflation?

* Comparison is with a 12 year MD-88 Captain using C2K pay rates assuming 75 hours per month versus $230,000 per year for a SWA Captain doing essentially the same kind of flying.

Then were invited to be a moderator. Here's a collection of vids that would be this site without your participation:

What I was trying to say is that the SWA guys are our equals in terms of the qualifications they bring to the job...ergo, we should use their 737 rates as a starting point for ours. Not that they are more or less qualified. I agree completely that SWA 73 = DAL MD-88/90 and we go from there. That was my poorly articulated point.

No one is managing my expectations. I have realistic yet "restorative" ones.;)

Two things for thought. Anyone notice the new requirements for Delta applicants? NO PIC TIME REQUIRED?

Secondly, anyone notice how the IAM is claiming AFA interfered in the United FA voting? So Delta interfered with AFA but AFA thought it was ok to interfere with IAM. Cracks me up.

The PIC requirement has been gone for the last two session of new hires, maybe even longer. Not many get invited without PIC time.

Bar,
I agree SWA rates are not that great. UCAL will surpass them about the time we open.

Are you serious? UCAL has already taken steps down the USAir/America West path. Do you really think they will have anything done by the time we open? Even if they do, you really think it will be anything good?

excuse the pessimism...

A few things from their attempt to negotiate in public:

-They capped their proposal at 255 90 seat jets. That should tell you that 1) the 100 seat jets is off the table, it will be mainlines, and 2) it will not be anywhere near that.

-They are probably eight months from SOC and therefore have plenty of time to play these stupid games. They do not want to do anything now that there is movement at AMR.

-I am just telling you what a few of my buddies were briefed after they came back from their voluntarily leaves.

This combined group will not take a half attempt, and are motivated to see results at the table. They will save the internal bloodletting for the SLI.
